Cursed is too fatalistic way of looking at it. It absolves the actors of their agency and responsibility in producing the less than desirable outcomes. There is nothing wrong with this, or any other, franchise that couldn't be fixed with competent management and coaching.

no, we just dont do what needs to be done, take a flame thrower to it all the way to the top
if you have a garden over run by weeds, is it cursed? no , you dig deep and clean up your garden and get rid of the weeds and bugs, and bad roots and everything else. you clean it up all the way.
