"Runwildboys" was inspired by my 3 nephews, who'd gotten yelled at by a nasty neighbor lady, for running through her yard. They crossed a tiny little corner of her back yard on their way home, trying to make it in time for the Cowboys game kickoff, and she saw them and freaked out.

By the start of the 2nd quarter, the cops were at my brother's house, with the witch standing behind them, yelling at the top of her lungs at the boys, calling them white trash little heathens, etc. The cops finally left just before halftime, and my brother promised them his boys would never even walk in the street near the lady's house, to which the woman replied, "If I ever see them near my yard again, I'm gonna sic my dogs on them!"

Later on, after the game, we saw the lady walking her dogs down the street, as she always did, and I knew she'd be gone for at least an hour, so I got the boys together, and went to her house. The door was open, so I let them in and said, "Run wild boys!!!" They proceeded to just destroy the house, breaking dishes, vases, and liquor bottles, dumping house plants into her Steinway grand piano, and turning the water on in the bathtub with the plug in, so it'd overflow.

The cops were back at my brother's house an hour and a half later, with ice cream for the boys.

That's the story of my user name.................................Just kidding..... I just wanted the Cowboys to run more.

Mine was my nickname in HS (38 years ago) and has stuck with me to this day with my friends from that colorful period.

Most of you Dallas Ft.Worth locals probably know the reason for my nickname. It's the name of a local show on 1310 The Ticket.

I went by the name The Fake Norm Hitzges on a now defunct Cowboys forum that many here also used to be members of.

My "Reality" username started before I ever launched a Cowboys forum. I was posting on Cowboys forums on a couple of news sites, such as TSN (SportingNews.com now), and there were fans from other NFC East teams that would troll the Cowboys forum from time to time. What little moderation there was happened once per day in the form of deleted threads rather than banned users. The few of us Cowboys fans who actually posted there tried to discuss the Cowboys, but the trolls continued to harass everyone.

As a response, I started using "Reality" because back then I loved to harass the trolls with facts and stats and while signing my posts with tag lines like:
"Reality sucks .. I know ..."
"Don't you hate Reality?"
"Reality can't be denied!"

Needless to say it was quite fun back then. I met @Dale and Chief, who I brought in as the first moderators of "TheCowboys" forum site I launched. There were several other widely known CZ members from back then on that site such as @TwoDeep3, @Wulfman, etc. TC was a private invitation only site back then with two basic rules .. don't tell anyone about the site and don't harass anyone on the site. The three of us told other Cowboys fans we knew about the site and TC became a nice little Cowboys community free from harassment. Of course that was back when Cowboys fans were a lot more friendly toward each other in general even when they disagreed.

TC had been online for a year or so and had around 50 active members each day when (if I remember correctly) DMN shut down their forums. Apparently, someone told the users there about TC and I woke up to 100+ new registrations the next morning. After discussing it with the staff and then the TC members, we decided to open TC to the public. We added hundreds of users during the first month as word spread. TC later moved from the .ORG domain to the .NET domain. I tried, but was unable to acquire the .COM version of the domain. Back then, TC ran on a forum service I had created a couple of years earlier that was solid, but dated. I eventually purchased vBulletin (which was the best forum software back then) and moved the site to the COWBOYSZONE.COM domain.

The rest is history ..
I remember those days, long ago. My original name was rocketman, because of Rocket Ismail. Been through the different changes to this forum, and during one of those changes, we had a chance to change our name. I believe it was Dale who changed my name to Mr Cowboy, per my request. Dale went on to become a sports reporter at SAEN after he graduated from College. He still comes on here from time to time.

Miley Dancer is my dog's name. She's a long-haired Chihuahua.

My chorkie's name is Dillard the Gentlemen.

I am having my first kid, and if it's a boy, I'm naming him Witten. Yeah, that's right; Witten.

When I first joined in I don't know 2006 or so. I was nyc because that is where I lived at the time.

They allowed a name switch and I decided that nyc did not exactly match my personality (being a native Texan), so I changed to Sam I Am.

Sam I Am came from back in the telnet bbs days. I original username was Bios, but when I started a second account to have a second MajorMUD character Sam I Am was born. (I haven't used Bios is years)

Finally, CBZ offered another name change and I felt my persona more resembled Yosemite Sam than Sam I Am.

....and here I am.

Some are, of course, pretty self-evident, but some are more mystifying... so, just posing the question, how/why did you choose the username you use here?

Mine isn't all that interesting, but fwiw, "sturt" is short for "Stewart," my real first name that I don't use, and don't particularly like... so, when I directed my first summer camp, my camp staff somehow figured all of that out, and as a not-that-inside-of-a-joke thing, began referring to me as that.

Then, the underscores came-to-be because back-when our best form of internet discussions came through the old "usenet" venue, I discovered that the underscores put my posts at the top of the list, and just made it more likely to engage discussion that way.

Next?
Mad_max is because I have an awful temper. And I usually am mad. And I like the movie.

I'm a Cowboy fan. My name is Gil. It's also a funny part from the movie Parenthood with Steve Martin playing Cowboy Gil at his 12 year old son's birthday party because the company sent a stripper instead of Cowboy Dan.

As stated before, please keep this thread on-topic!

This is not directed at anyone in particular. The point of this thread is so we have an easy to read and look back on thread for the origin of people's usernames. As such, we want to keep it on-topic and free of general chat comments.
