Look at the bright @Trouty, you aren't a Panthers fan.
I didn’t know you were that big of an EK fan, John!

I think I was talking trash about OTT fans in last years NHL thread and how they were complaining about Drew’s Norris from 15-16. I don’t recall you chewing me out! And I was pretty hard on the EK fanatics!

You have great patience, brother! :)

Grown to like him, even though he seems to destroy the Panthers single handily lol. Along with Stamkos(forgot to mention in that thread).
It has been a recently acquired like for him like in the past year or so.
Never got into those big debates over Karlsson/Doughty. Both are amazing and at times it's a coin flip on who was the better defenseman that year.

Shame about Stevens, at least you guys still got legit talent on the ice. Panthers have 3 noteworthy players and a bunch of "potential".

What do your players with potential’s ceilings look like? Do you have any young NHL top-4 D prospects? If so, RHD? Any in the minors? How young are you guys as a team?

We have no surefire top-4 D prospects. LaDue was for a second, but can’t make the top-6 with the team begging him to take it. Forbort looked like a Mitchell clone (you know Mitchy, right!?) last year, but has since regressed nearly back to his bust status, but he’s asked to play top 4 minutes. Our prospects, outside of maybe 3, are really bad. We have never recovered from Voynov. Our stars are aging. Bubble team.

Too old to call him a prospect but Matheson is probably our best shot, before the 18 draft to be our best defenseman. Still see him as a future #2 defenseman.
Other than Matheson, we have McCoshen( #3 at best defenseman) and Weegar(bottom pairing but PP specialist) who recently cracked the lineup who need to develop ASAP.
Draft wise Gildon(2017) may have a high ceiling but way too early to figure out a defenseman like him at 18.
Weegar is probably our best RHD prospect, which isn't saying that much.

Forward wise the prospects who have yet to make the team seem somewhat promising. Borgstrom(C/W) is playing well in the NCAA and has unreal hands. Still needs to develop a 2 way game but still young. (top 6)
Mascherin has a NHL caliber shot, skating could use some improvement. (top 6)
Aleksi Heponiemi has had an insane start post being drafted. 32 games played and 79 points so far in the WHL. Main obstacle for him is his weight(150-ish) but his speed/skill is impressive. (top 3/6 Winger)
Lastly, Tippett didn't look too bad in his 8/9 game tryout. Can tell he has a shot, just needs to improve the IQ. Very good shot. Pretty fast.

Huberdeau(24)-Barkov(22)-Dadonov(28)
Malgin(20)-Trocheck(24)-Bjugstad(25)
Brickley(25)-McCann(21)-Vrbata(old)
Haley(lol)-MacKenzie(36)-Sceviour(28)
Yandle(31)-Ekblad(21)
Matheson(23)-Pysyk(26)
Petrovic(25)-McCoshen(22)

Overall the core forwards are young and in their "prime". Guys like Malgin and McCann show promise, but still are a ways away from being impact players, if at all. Bjugstad seems to be guy hampered by injuries.
Ekblad has been a shell of himself post the 2014 season. Concussions and being a poor skater have made a lot of Panthers sour on him. That deal looks horrific.

Loved Mitchell while he was here. Great leadership and was a rock defensively. I was high on Forbort his draft year. Bummer he isn't coming close to his draft status/being competent.

Yeah, your team’s prospects destroy ours, John.

After Clague and a long shot in LaDue, we have zero top 4 D prospects at any level. Clague was fantastic, but has cooled off. Still, a lot of people are high on him.

We have Amadio (prime Jarrett Stoll with upside of Mike Richards), Vilardi (18 yo 2017 1st) has the potential upside of Kopi, and the org is saying that he will play in the NHL next season, despite missing several months with a hip injury. We’re all skeptical. Kempe is already up and is the truth. A lone bright spot amidst a see of unproven talent and weak hype. He is an incredible skater with a sneaky net presence, size, and nice shot. He is a C but he’s atrocious in the face off circle, still he’s a top 6 FWD all day. And Cal Peterson (G) looks like he has a shot as a future starter, as long as he keeps developing. We swiped him away from Buffalo.

So that’s what we have. The price of 2 cups and 2 other runs. Truly barren

All the other guys we have that are considered an NHL prospect are either just too long a shot, or 4th liners if they’re lucky. Brodzinski has been a disappointment.

Yea the price of trading premium picks definitely hurts the long term outlook of a team. But hey 2 cups are 2 cups. I'll take that any day over high draft picks and failed expectations.

I just have a feeling that either most won't pan out or the fo/ownership will squander any chance of building a legit team

@Trouty caught up reading some high praise for Gabriel Vilardi in the HFB Draft Prospects forum.

Watching the highlights of him, he may be one hell of a steal at #11.
Yeah, John, some are saying that he may be the best of the draft. We shall see, we need it! Did you see Kempe’s fight from yesterday? Dude did a hair flip halfway in the fight :D

Yeah LOL

Kings fans joke about his Swedish looks, we have for a while. This was perfect. He also got ribbed by his teammates.

Haha, gotta look good at all times my man!

Rare to me to see two guys fighting without the helmets. Hate when one guy fights with a visor and the other doesn't.

The Panthers won a game.
Met our quota for the next two weeks.
It's gotten to the point where I would rather have Dahlin (lottery pick) than make the playoffs and get bounced in the first round. Preds just dismantled us after Stevens sat three of our biggest contributors after the Stars game. All in the name for Father's Night

Yea, I get where you are coming from.

Dahlin-Doughty pairing would be deadly and then definitely put the Kings back into contenders.

You think Stevens would be one and done if they fail to qualify?
Pretty crazy to sit those guys when they are on the edge of the playoffs and every point matters in the West

Well my struggling Pens have played better lately. They are now 2nd in the Metro after falling all the way to 5th or 6th. I just hope they can bring it all together over the next few months and go into the playoffs with some strong positive momentum.

Out West, look at those Vegas Knights surging to the top of the conference, after falling off a bit.

So far, my dream remains in tact, a Pittsburgh - Vegas Stanley Cup Final.......Murray vs. Fleury.
