The NFL has to be worried what will happen if the Jaguars win against the Patriots :)
Probably a lot of happy people outside of Boston. I have to admit, I don’t want to see another SB with the freaking Pats.

And Goodell was given an extension despite it. If this were a publicly traded company, the CEO would be out due to a stock slide.

DTV pays the NFL major cash to be the sole provider for out of market fan viewership.
DTV charges those fans major cash to watch a sub par product.
Fans picking up that tab are getting sick and tired, and cancelling, I did after 20yrs of paying that bill.
It always comes down to the money,, that's why DTV pulls their pants down and gives it up for free when customers call up and threaten to leave.
You almost have to hire an attorney to just cancel your service... they are feeling the pressure.

Does anybody really know what time it is, does anybody really care. Dang if the Boys were still playing, I'd be watching. Probably won't watch either game this weekend. Not because of the product, because of the teams playing

Can anyone explain how they arrive at their rating numbers?

I can't imagine a more dull SB than Bortles v. Foles or Keenum. Personally I hope the Pats make it and I hope the Zimm and the Vikings make it. I want to see the Pats lose a SB game and the best chance of that happening is if the Vikes have home field advantage. The Pats have all the rest of the advantages, a great QB, a great game plan usually, tons of experience in the show, a great HC and staff. Yeah, gotta hate the Pats BUT I would use them as a shining example of how to be a real dynasty, not a one time appearance and then nada

6:30 am my time,,, my roosters tell me it is.
I will watch at a distance, if that makes any sense, kind of like back ground noise. I will be busy working on a basement remodel, so the games at a distance keeps me somewhat entertained, but the old school passion for the game is a distant memory.

TV ratings in general are going to naturally be down as more and more people are streaming, cutting the cord etc.

If things were this dire, the networks wouldn't be bidding against themselves for the Thursday Night package.

Those defending the NFL, second straight year of double digit ratings drop. Ship is sinking and the product is mediocre right now. The youngster don't care like my generation did (Gen X). Millennials are leaving in droves and the Gen Z's simply don't care for it. Long term the league is in trouble. Add the fact that the league offended an aging yet very prosperous generation in the baby boomers.

This league is in desperate need of some star power...
You know guys like Zeke Elliott, Dak, and Dez...

Instead fans are being fed a healthy dose of Case Keenan, Nick Foles, and Blake Bortles.

At least the owners agreed to pay Goodell another $200 million.

Pending how income is in the NFL.

Cool. I don't think I'll even watch from a distance. Unless it's the Eagles game and to see them lose. I have zero passion for any team except the Boys. It's still there though

I don't think there is bidding year to year on that package.

Correction, millennials are leaving ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC behind in just about every programming time slot. There is a reason for the 2 billion dollar deal to live stream through Verizon. Live streaming is where millennials live. I know, I have 2 of them (not true millennials because they both arrived in the 90's but that's how they refer to themselves)

It's really odd. It's almost like if you win you get to keep playing in the playoffs.

It is an interesting concept. Hire a good coach, get some quality players and if you win enough you get to keep playing into January and February.

I think the Cowboys should look into this process. It looks quite innovative.

Actually an excellent question,, used to be Nelson Ratings, but maybe they monitor all "smart TVs" these days?
Just wondering because for over 4 decades I've been watching TV and I've never been involved with a poll etc...

The NFL game has become stale with so many penalties and commercials. The announcers hype up every replay like it was the greatest close call that ever happened. Their overselling it and it's very noticeable.

The smart business model would be to start banging the advertisers, charge them mega bucks to advertise, and run less commercials. They can afford it, the fans cant.
Less commercials would help in alleviating some of the tension.
You loose the fans, and you loose everything.
I remember as a kid, on sundays, the NFL was the greatest thing going on in every household.
Watching the games was a religion, on the old TV that you had to get up and actually manually turn the dial to change the station.
That was old school viewership, but that was a solid, loyal fan base.
The NFL needs to step back a few decades and start re writing the current script, or their going to be in big trouble in about 10 yrs.

I really think a lot of people just had enough of rich spoiled players who have made millions playing a sport but disrespect the country. Most of these players would not have been well off except for sports. And most would be worse off living any where else in he world.

I also think that so many fans resent being lectured by the NFL and or the networks. Bob Costas gun control rant is one example. This is been going on for years now. I have also read where the NFL has given money to political or social movements like BLM. They have chosen to become political. Regardless of what movements they support they will alienate a lot of people. The NFL needs to stick to football. People watch the games and follow the NFL for an escape. Once the escape is gone there is a lot less reason to watch.
