This is why I think the Cowboys will move up in the 1st round

This is just a hunch but what the heck we have almost 4 months to kill before the draft. With the draft being held in Dallas for the first and maybe only time, you just know Jerry will be dying to make a splash and be the center of attention. I think it will drive Jerry crazy to just sit back and take the BPA with the #19th pick. Imagine the media buzz as well as Cowboys fans attending the draft if the commish walks to the podium and says "The Oakland Raiders have traded the 9th pick in the draft to the Dallas Cowboys for.....?"

Now I am in no way advocating for this unless they fall in love with a guy who is still there at pick ? who they think can be a difference maker/blue chip talent. I think this team has some major holes to fill and giving away present/future premium picks does not seem to fit the mold since McClay has had a major role in running the show. But with that said, although Jerry has been for the most part being involved less and less he is still a showman who is 75 years old and knows the draft in all probability will never be held again in Dallas in his lifetime.

I'll believe it when I see it.
But I wouldn't hate getting Roquon Smith...or If they feel Ridley won't make it to'em.

If they move up it should be for R. Smith or Ridley. I feel both are game changers in positions of need for Dallas. I would also add I think Vita Vea could have a ripple effect type impact that would improve the defense.

If we trade up in the 1st its going to be for the 17th pick because we are certain the Seachickens will take the player we want.

I would absolutely love it if the Cowboys traded into the top 5 and selected Quenton Nelson.

That would indeed be the the nastiest o-line ever assembled if it comes to fruition.

I would love to have Nelson but I'm not sold on Tyron Smith playing a full season without being sidelined with an injury. If Smith were to miss time and the FO does nothing to provide an adequate backup at his spot, I think that would just negate the impact Nelson could have across the whole line. I'd shoot for Roquon Smith or Vita Vea if there were within reach of moving up. I'd rather not see a WR taken in the 1st either. Just my .02

We would have to give up at least a second to move up to the top 5 if were gonna do that, it better be for a defensive line and not offensive.

Good teams don’t sacrifice 2 years of assets to get a 3 day PR win. That’s how Al Davis’ Raiders operated after Gruden left the first time.

I believe Jerry will have entertainment to make the actual draft a sideshow. 99% of the people at the draft will have no clue who is being picked any way. It’s a social event.

Nothing crazy, I'd be open to go up like 3/4 slots but wouldn't any to lose out 3rd.

there will be plenty of entertainment at the draft as the crowd chants "Goodell sucks" or "BOOOO (enter your favorite expletive here)" for every pick in the first round other than that of the Cowboys....keep in mind that JJ likes ANY publicity, good or bad...so, when dallas is on the clock, you could here that buffoon Goodell come to the podium and sayone of two things:

"Dallas has traded the 19th pick in the draft to the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo is now on the clock"....then, later..."Dallas has traded the #22 pick in the draft to New Orleans Saints. New Orleans is now on the clock."

OR

"Dallas has traded the 19th pick in the draft to the Super Bowl Champion Jacksonville Jaguars. Jacksonville is now on the clock"

I could see them giving up a 3rd rounder to move up a few slots, particularly with the compensatory picks they will have. I don't see them giving up their 2nd rounder to move up.

I hoping for an active free agency so that Dallas will be talked about during the draft. If that happens, they may decide they don't need 10 picks and go for quality over quantity. Either trade up or trade out for better picks next year.

If we move up in 1st, I can't see it being any higher than 14th overall which should cost us a couple of 4ths.

Jerry will be out of the draft room most of the time. He won't be able to resist socializing and being interviewed.
