Sign him.....

If Dallas could deal with Haley crapping in a glove box and groping teammates genitals....... we're all good.

David is a play maker. ,

teams wont touch him for a 2nd rounder. Third maybe. Those first two draft picks are like gold.

2nd round tender. You can replace him with the first round pick if you feel you have to and then use the 2nd round for another area of need.
No guarantees in the draft
Just on talent the kid is a dominant player
Not many players can dominate on the edge and in the middle
The odds of matching his talent at 19 are slim and even if you did that’s just a wash with a 2nd rnd kicker
I don’t know what the other issues are and that’s really the key
We will soon know because if they put a 2nd rnd tender on him there are off the field concerns because this kid is super talented and may be the most talented player we have
Talent aside, a player not able to play doesn’t help you no matter the talent

If there were not the other issues I think someone would give up a first at the end of the rnd
Super talented player

By all appearances this is a deep draft for DT. And, yes, the draft isn't a guarantee, but neither is having a inconsistent player that has the suspension Sword of Damocles hanging overhead. And the 2nd round kicker is very well worth if for no other reason than it's a trade chip to improve on the 1st round position.

This may all be media and fan speculation. As you point out, we'll know if they do indeed place the 2nd round tender on him.

I will consider giving up my Cowboys' fandom if we let Irving walk... Next to Zeke, he is the most physically talented football player on this team. Guys who are 6'8" and 295 simply cannot do what he can do as an athlete... I dont care what it takes, but Garrett better find a way to get the best out of him and handle his eccentricities, and the FO better do what it takes to keep him.

It’s all about are there issues we don’t know
If they put a 2nd rnd tender on a player with his talent then there are issues that worry them
If there are then it’s a smart move
But Irving is one of if not the most talented player we have
But that does nothing for you if he is suspended

Haley didn’t have suspension issues
And it was another time in the nfl
I don’t care if a guy is a little crazy
I do care if he is suspended
Irving was suspended far taking a supplement that he was set to endorse. The company that produced the product failed to list ALL of the ingredients. Irving check everything that was listed and non were banned by the NFL, one of the one's not listed was. Had he know all the ingredients the suspension would have never happened. He did not cry or whine about it, he took the punishment and moved on.

I’m not messing around with this 2nd rnd pick crap. I’m slapping the first one him & extending him & Lawrence next year when we have 70M in cap space. Of course this is assuming both make good on the expectation of staying healthy, out of trouble & continuing to produce. Which is alot to ask of these two.

That sounds good. The problem is that paying everyone is going to eat up a ton of cap and if you are going to hand out a bunch of big contracts then you had better be right about those contracts.

Easy.

First round tender.

Stupid to get rid of a player they just finished developing and is very good m, for a draft pick who will most likely need developing.

Seems like the easy answer to me.

Whatever we do, do NOT give this cat a big contract until he shows he can stay on the field and play w/ consistency.

Exactly why they both need to be tagged & provide a full season of healthy, productivity & ability to not do anything stupid.... do that & i’ll pay them based upon my results of the things mentioned above

Hardest question of the offseason.

If I homer out and think he is dominant, I put the 1st round tender on him.

If I am a dice roller, I put the 2nd round tender on him.

I am very conflicted.

Two different philosophies, a first round tender virtually protects him from other teams offering him a deal because not likely any would give up a first round draft pick for him, a second round tender opens up the possibility of a trade a little bit. Ask yourself this, would you trade a second round draft pick for an UDFA who has had some off field issues in the past and some consistency issues?

I've heard many fans clamor for trading this player or that player on our team for draft picks. The nice thing about RFA is, you can protect a guy and negotiate a contract in the year he's protected OR you can look at it as, we're not 100% sold on him and would entertain a notion of trading for draft pick (minimum second rounder) if someone wants him that badly. I think we'll know how management feels about Irving after the tender. If it's a first round tender they value him more highly than a second round tender. That's how I look at it.

I have some big ? on Lawrence too. How much is $17 million/year for a player who has had one very good season out of 4 and has back issues. I can hear the scream now if we tag him for $17 million and he plays fewer games and has fewer sacks in 2018. Not easy decisions but I'm sure Tank will get tagged. Irving I'm not so sure about, rumors are starting to circulate that the team would think about a possible exchange for a second round DP

That’s true but do you really think, if rumors are true, that they really want him gone because he can’t read a label. If they put a 2nd rnd tender on him then there is more they know than we know. No teams simply wants to let one of, if not the most talented player walk
At DE he could take over a game, in the middle he is a force. The kid has super talent so if they just let him go for a 2nd then I got to believe there is more issues we don’t know about
