this is a poorly worded question. no offense.
are the cowboys going to have a better record? hard to say
are the cowboys players going to be better, i think most will make the team better.
are the cowboys going to be better and overcome Garrett and Linehan? i dont know to be honest. Those two coaches are going to be the lynchpins to success.
do i think the new coaches will contribute to the Cowboys being better? yes i do, will that be enough no.
do i think the Cowboys will have a better offseason than last year? i think it will be even keel, good moves with bad moves.
do i think the cowboys will be better in the long run? no, i think later than sooner Garrett will have to be replaced and thats going to set things back a while.

Nothing has really changed in the 2 things that perennially hold this team back . . . coaching, FO. The team W-L record reflects the lack of leadership and discipline required of a good team despite having talent enough to win consistently (including playoff wins).
This team has been richer in on the field talent than NE in the last 5 years but what have they displayed? I'm conceding that NE plays in the consistently weakest conference in the NFL which is a PO advantage.
Expect more of the same which is reflected in the responses in this thread ... nobody has a damn clue what will show up on the field this year.

For the last 4 anyway. He was pretty consitantly average for his first 3. Need zero injuries and zero suspensions or we’re 8-8. Thats what happens to coachless teams that are 100% relying on their players to win games.

And how exactly has the secondary been rebuilt? Nothing but pure nonsense. Heath is terrible, Jones has been exposed and is a bust. We have two young corners that show some potential, nothing more. Woods shows some potential We dont have one bonafide starter in the secondary that is anything more than a hopeful.
And where are the "tons of guys" trending upwards? More nonsense.

Define good as that is a relative term dependent on the 13 teams they will play. If the Cowboys could have played CLE and SF, before they got Garrapolo, and the Giants and Skins 4 games each, they would have been very good and made the playoffs....and lost in the first round.
9-7 could be defined as good as that is a winning season. Not very good or great but good.
I think whether they will be better than this past season depends on 3 people that I did not consider good....Garrett, Linehan and Prescott. All 3 must elevate their game to take this team to very good. At this point, I would say very good is not in the cards.

Will we win a playoff game? With Garrett I doubt it. Hope I am wrong, but Garrett cannot compete against the better coaches and teams even though our talent is good enough.

They will win just enough to save Jason's job once again. That's the way things have been for years. Up one year, Jason goes on the hot seat, they win the next, he is off the hot seat, just to have another poor year.
