The Sound Of Silence

Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence

In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence

And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence

Fools, said I, you do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you
But my words, like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, the words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls
And whispered in the sounds of silence

One day, the sound of late January cheering will be heard again.

ARE WE THERE YET?

I'm just like the kid in the backseat along for the ride, and will be happy when we get there.

Speak with your dollars. Stop giving them to Jones!
There are too many dumb Cowboy fans for this to make a difference.

He plays numbers in terms of profit.

He is still laughing at all of you and not caring a bit that you want a SB more than he does.

Why do you have to be so nasty and mean?

Its really is amazing. We went 13-3 and then 9-7. Now someone might look a that and say..........hey not bad. Two winning seasons in a row. But the darkness comes, NOT from the fact that this team has no talent or isnt good, it comes from the feeling of no hope. No hope that under the regime of Jones and Garrett this team will NEVER win anything of consequence. And we feel stuck because no matter what we all know Garrett isnt getting fired. So yes its the darkness. The darkness of mediocrity and no hope that things are changing any time soon.

The darkness comes from being a once great franchise who hasn’t been out of the second round since the mid 90s. It would be one thing if it were a 10 year drought or something. But this is a quarter of a decade. People have grown up and had kids of their own, the world has changed so much. This isn’t a great franchise anymore. We’re literally no better than the browns and bills these days living on accomplishments from a by gone era. I no longer find it it funny to laugh at other franchises. It’s a dang shame, but the cowboys now have as much history as losers as we do rich history of winning.

Yes, we have become one of the laughingstocks.

I have several friends who are fans of other teams, and all of them think it's sad what Jerry has done to this franchise.

No reason to laugh at the Browns. They actually were a great organization in the 50's and 60's. Sorta of like what we were once. Other fan bases aren't envying us anymore. They are laughing at us. Just sad. And it's especially frustrating for those of us that remember how respected the Cowboys once were.

Wow Cheapie, you really sucked me in with all the poetry. I hate us being reduced to poetry. I want to roar about my team. Stomp my feel, snap my fingers and laugh at every other team (you know, like Patriot's fans). How can the brightest, the prettiest and the best not be good enough? Off season sucks! ESPECIALLY when there are teams that don't have the decency to stop playing once we've been removed from the competition.

I am all for a good gif reply, but I will be damned if I understand this one.

You just watched Bolt with your kids and got fired up?
Just my weird sense of humor. A thread focusing on silence and a gif of Bolt’s super (loud) bark. Polar opposites.

Yep. It only makes sense inside my head. :p

I was watching Superbowl XXVII last night on youtube. It was like yesterday but after the game was over, it also felt like forever ago.

Gotta say, I was a little "Disturbed" by the OP, so I had to change it a little:

The Sound Of Failure

Hello losing, my old friend
I've come to suffer once again
Because a Garrett has a lame “process”
Left me frustrated and very stressed
And the process that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of Failure

On weekends I subscribe to hype
Almost like I smoked the pipe
'Neath the halo of a the wafting smoke
Watch the Cowboys and I want to croak
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a 6th award
I’m getting bored
And viewed the sound of failure

And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand fans, maybe more
People watching without speaking
People wondering why no adjustments
Opposing defenses laugh, while calling out our plays
No one afraid
My God we drip of failure

Fools, said I, you do not know
Failure like a cancer grows
Garrett claps and we watch them fail
Out scheme, it sucks, it is very frail
Oh my God , stop CLAPPING you buffoon
And echoed in the wells of failure

And the ‘zoners bowed and prayed
Someone please come to our AID
Jerry Jones has killed this team
Narcissism fuels his dream
And the sign said, the words of the mods are written on various threads
This disease it spreads
And whispered in the sounds of failure
