Dez would be better off going somewhere else. Dak doesn’t appear to have the ability to optimize Dez abilities. I think they’ll keep Dez at least another season but a couple of my good friends think he’s probably gone if he doesn’t take a pay cut or restructure which all of this rhetoric is setting the table for.

Separation has never been Dez’s Forte. Ninety percent of this forum used to be like, you just need to throw it up to Dez. Even if he looks like he’s covered, he’s not.

Now that they got to defend Dak’s horrible play, they say things like Dez doesn’t get separation.

It’s as much to do with drops and mental errors than it is getting open.

I remember the second Giants game last season where he essentially lost the game for us and the Seahawks game this season was the worse performance I have ever seen from a wideout..when we needed him the most.

Dak deserves his share of the blame but a receiver should never have that big of a negative impact on a game ever.

I just don’t think Dak/Dez playing styles go well together. That’s okay..Brady prefers small, shifty receivers and playmaking tight ends as well...a big bodied possession receiver that forces you to throw into tight windows isn’t every QBs preference.

FWIW..I’ll be sad if they release Dez. I like the guy a lot, I would prefer to keep him one more season considering we would likely have to sign an overrated veteran to replace him.

Keep him for a season and draft his replacement, much like when we drafted Dez to replace Roy Williams.

I agree with you but here is the problem... Dez, like TO, is an incredible YAC WR.

His entire career we have not done the simple thing by getting the ball in his hands and letting him work.

Now that we don't have a QB that isn't comfortable throwing vertical yet we are just completely wasting Dez.

He'll still go get the occasional 50/50 ball for us but we have totally wasted his talent by just not simply getting the ball in his hands.

He does deserve some blame for the drops but Dallas has to do a better job of just getting him involved in high percentage situations.

Dak likes open WR's. He doesn't like throwing to guys that the defense knows exactly what they are doing unless it's a desperate situation.

Sounds like to me they'll see how FA and the draft goes.
Definitely not set on keeping him, and it shows so far with no restructures.
If they nab the guys they want, they'll go to Dez about a pay cut and if he says no, he'll be a June 1st cut.

What positions is that? Separation from the defender? That's on Dez.

Not when the defender gets the scouting report and knows the exact routes Dez will run out of acertain formation because our coach pigeon holes our WR's and plays into our tendencies.

I would guess most NFL WR's wouldn't get separation in that situation.

Dallas will probably pay him more then anyone else would.

I just can't help but think of him in that New England offense with real coaching and with Gronk and those small WR's controlling the middle of the field.

It could be 2007 all over again if New England had Dez.

When the entire receiving group has a down year you have to look at th e common factors...

I will LMAO if they let Dez go and he goes to another team with a QB accurate beyond 10yds down field and a coach with even just a little bit of creativity because he will return to form.
He will end up in Philly or NE and will be deadly.

Can't see a scenario he will stay, there is no chance he takes a paycut,

Dez could lead the league with a QB like Brady.

He's always been a team first guy for the most part and I think he loves being a Cowboy.

A paycut has to happen though. He said he wouldn't take one but we will see.

I think he would play in Dallas for 8,9, or 10 mill vs somewhere else for 8.

WR isn’t a critical position as it used to be.

I can’t think of a team that is a WR away from a championship . Just saying...

Started his career by scapegoating TO, going out scapegoating Dez. I can't be a fan of this crap anymore. Once Dez is gone I'm out too. LOL at an emotional player being a distraction. This cookie-cutter corporate franchise neuters its players like no other. Look at the Eagles and how their players wear their emotions on their sleeves, why isn't that a "distraction" for them. Seriously **** YOU Stephen.

I agree with you but they can't pay Dez 16 million dollars because even if he was a 16 million dollar WR they would never get the value unless they had a great QB in place.

Witten needs a paycut too. PEople need to be going just as hard at that contract. He's been paid for what he has done and his best days are behind him.

We could also use a guy in that area of the field that will take pressure off the WR's.

I respect Witten and want him to still play here but we need a more dynamic player at this point.

Dak had 28 TD's this year, 29 last year. He'll have 35 next year or more. Book it. If one guy can get open more than 2 yards from the line of scrimmage his life would be a lot easier. Every week, I see receivers running wide open for other teams. Can't be every receiver, it is the scheme. Dak could not redesign the offense on the fly in the huddle like Romo did just yet. Let's get a coach, so he won't have to. Even with this vanilla offense, if they get a real deep threat, so the Defenses have to defend more than 15 yards, Dak, Zeke and this offense will be fine. That's a big IF however, since they do not like receivers that run better than 4.6.
If the Patriots, or Eagles had our receivers you would see how often they get open. Bryant is a good receiver that would excel on either of those teams.
It's not always the receivers fault, but more often than not they tend to be a scapegoat for quarterbacks that don't throw receivers open, or hit the routes on time forcing everything to blow up. It's all about timing, reading a defense, and seeing the field.

How many times did Brady launch deep balls down the sideline to Cooks yesterday?

Dez is better at coming down with that ball then Cooks ever thought about being.

You give Brady that kind of outlet with Dez and then it's game over for the league until Brady just quits.

Remember when Randy Moss was done and washed up? It would be the same thing all over again and a 29 year old Dez Bryant should not be washed up. He should have 4 or 5 more good years.

I said earlier, Witten should lead the way when it comes to paycuts. Put the pressure on Dez. But I promise you, you'll never hear a peep about a Witten paycut from Stephen Jones. Hell you barely hear it on CZ....WHY?

We need offensive coaches who can generate plays and have the players execute them. Right now everything is so vanilla that everyone can see it coming before the play even starts.
