I’m told the Dallas Cowboys will be looking for linebackers and a pass rusher in the offseason. DeMarcus Lawrence will be a free agent, Sean Lee is due a lot of money and will be 32 years old next season and Jaylon Smith is not a sure thing.
The name to keep in mind for the Cowboys is Boise State junior linebacker Leighton Vander Esch. The more tape scouts watch on Vander Esch the more they like him, and I fully expect the athletic linebacker to blow up the combine.

Good. I like the focus on both positions. Though if they don't resign Lawrence, they're dumber/cheaper than I thought

And if they do re-sign Lawrence I'd rather the focus be on skill positions on offense rather than a pass rusher. This offense lacks speed and that has to change.
Signing Lawrence alone does little. Even with him they were middle of the pack in the NFL in sacks and QB pressures.
They need pass rush help from somewhere this offseason.
One of his issues is that one of his hands is 7 1/2 inches and the other is 8 3/4

Full year of Irving. Maturation of Taco. There are potential upgrades already on the roster. There is not a potential upgrade on the roster to address their lack of speed.
I think this is probably viewed as a bigger deal by outsiders than it is with the Cowboys.
They probably feel no sense of an issue with Lee and mighty fine about Smith. Just sign Hitchens back and all that is needed is some depth.
