Why do D's go into coverage vs Brady?

I am rooting against the Pats, and that's no matter who they play.

However, for the first time in 30 years, I'm sitting this one out. Wish more would also. Why? The blatant missed holding calls, and two key PI calls against JAX that gave NE two TD's.

And 1 penalty against NE? 1? Really? C'moooonnnnnn

Ah, the truth comes out.

The Eagles have the dogs to get to Brady but that secondary is suspect.

Brady and McDaniels are going to find a way to put points on the board. The question is can the Eagles do the same? The Jags had no answers for NE's halftime adjustments. This is how Dallas used to win under Jimmy Johnson. The first half was a chess match to feel out the opponent. Halftime was for adjusting and exploiting what they did in the first half. The Pats do the same.

Garret is the worst coach in the NFL at making adjustments on the fly. He is a preparer not a game day coach.

The Pats game was the reason why I didn't watch much of the Philly game. It's also the reason why I am not watching the Superbowl. I too am a little taken aback by the non calls. And as you mentioned earlier, why were they playing soft zone when for 3 quarters, they were man. Doesn't make sense to me either. Didn't make sense to AJ Bouye either.

I'm not so sure. They only got 38 sacks this year. The Jags got like 55 and Brady still had time to throw, including plenty of deep shots to Cooks.

Jags screwed up in that 2nd half by not blitzing him. They weren't getting any pressure and Tom picked them apart! Huge mistake.

Incorrect. They switched defensive scheme. Brady was running the same boring crap all game...

Maybe the jags made adjustments anticipating NE adjustments ... that’s what teams do not coached by JG...unfortunately for the jags it didn’t work out. NE was the best chance to see Philly lose in the SB.

No, they had him in check and then switched to a softzone prevent type garbage defense on purpose, for ratings..

I mean, seriously, it's been proven over and over that you're not going to beat him that way.

Let the dawgs loose!!!

Huh? You need as many guys as possible in coverage against Brady. The key is getting pressure with 4, getting your hands up and mixing up coverages.

Ware and Von Miller and company proved that was how you beat Brady. Its how the Giants beat Brady in those two SBs; pressure constantly. Brady is not a god; you get pressure in his face and he becomes just another QB under pressure.
The way to beat Brady is to put pressure on him with just 4 d-lineman so you can drop 7 into coverage. Problem is, there are not terribly many teams who can pressure a QB with just 4 men. The great Giants defenses of those years - as well as Denver 2 years ago - were talented enough to be able to do that.

Blitzing Brady a lot is suicidal. He always reads it properly and hits the guy in the zone vacated by the blitzer(s). His passer rating is insane against the blitz, for every time you hit him he gets 10 first downs.

Either your front 4 gets him or you just lose.

You must pick your blitzes.
