I had and may still have what could be the only Henson Jersey ever purchased. Not only did I call the DC shop to order it custom, but I gave the lady on the phone some sound advice about how they should start stocking up on them..it was a dark time.

2nd rnd LB from the 80's Jessie Penn, had a great pass break-up as a rookie then nothing.

Steve Pelluer QB before Aikman, I really thought He'd be Our franchise QB, I even wanted Us to trade the 1st overall pick (Troy), I was that certain. As a further embarrassment, I was mad for Tony Mandarich that year too.

Newman was very good. He wasn't Deion, but that's a really high bar of expectations to set.

I whiffed on Bobby Carpenter. It was incredible how soft he was in the NFL because I just didn't see that at Ohio State. I saw a really good athlete that was well coached and had the family genetics.

I whiffed on Drew Henson. I really wasn't into the Henson trade, but I remember when Henson first got here he had a really good practice and Ron Wolf was visiting the team and said something to the effect that we've got our next franchise QB. I did watch Henson a little at Michigan and I always remember one throw he made on the run to his right, a little across the field into a 20 mph wind that he threw on a frozen rope and that was always impressive to me. Given Wolf's initial blessing, I thought he might be the next great Dallas QB.

Sean Lissemore - I saw a tremendous athlete with really good size that I thought could be a dynamic player in the 4-3. Instead, he was much better as a 3-4 DEand just a solid 3-4 DE overall.

Clayton Holmes - guy really had it all physically, but a 10 cent head. I mean, he may have had more pure all-around athleticism than Deion and he could tackle.

DeMarcus Lawrence - The data wasn't too high on him, but last year he was flat out incredible. Could have had 20 sacks if the refs could call holding. I thought he was simply a 4-8 sacks a season guy that was oft-injured and wasn't worth trading up. Gives me hope for Taco.

I think we all probably whiffed on Romo. I was excited when we got him because there was a lot of positive talk about him and the consensus was he was a 6th round pick and possibly a 4th round pick. But I didn't see anything special those first couple of years. I remember in year 2 he had issues finding passing lanes and things were not pretty in preseason. But man...he got really good really quick and ole Parcells know's QB's. I shutter to think what could have been if Parcells remained as coach or if we had Sean Payton or Bruce Arians coaching him instead of Garrett.

I would add that I thought Jenkins(CB), Felix Jones and Antonio Bryant would of turned out better than what played out.

I was initially against the Henson trade, but when I saw some tape of his I thought he was better than Romo at the time. Swing and a miss lol. Think I even had a Henson avatar at one point.
Carpenter I never expected to be so soft. Colombo chewing him out on hard knocks really set it in stone that he wouldn't turn it around here. Of course he has that pick 6 against us when he was with the Lions.

I loved Hambrick averaging 5.1 ypc as Emmitt’s backup and his size and speed which Emmitt had lost at the end. I thought he could be a young Jerome Bettis.

Also loved Antonio Bryant and Derek Ross. The early 2000s were full of splash guys who never got it done consistently. Drugs seem to be a common factor except for Newman.

Herschel Walker - @ the time, I was a big Georgia fan so I watched every college game he played in. I had no one to compare him to because I thought that he was the best running back to ever play the game. Yes, I was a kid and you know how kids are when it comes to their favorite players. Even though he was selected in the 5th round, after one year in the USFL, I acted as if he was the first pick of the draft. Sad to think that his greatest achievement in a Cowboy uniform was when he took it off to put on a Vikings jersey.

I whiffed on Dat guy. you know what guy I'm talking about. Dat Nguyen... just kidding. It would be Roy Williams for me. I thought he was gonna be the Star WR we was missing. Oh was i so very wrong

Felix and Jenkins got hurt by bad coaching. Felix's initial production was incredible and you had a guy that could be a real matchup problem out of the backfield, who could run the ball effectively and was at times an excellent kickoff returner. But Garrett simply didn't know how to use him. Had he been playing for somebody like Andy Reid or Belichick, he may have had a helluva career.

The USF coaching staff told Wade specifically that Jenkins was a good kid, but you have to stay on him because he'll rest on his laurels too easy. His rookie year he did that and he stunk. Then his second year Wade turned things around and Jenkins had a Pro Bowl type year. But then Wade went back to his old ways and so did Jenkins. He got hurt afterward due to lack of strength in his shoulders and traps...something that should have been developed in his rookie year and that's how he crapped out.

I really don't blame it on Felix and Jenkins as much as I blame it on lousy coaching. You have to get these guys early. If you don't, you may lose a talented player forever.

Funny thing is I actaully thought after the Seattle playoff game that Bobby was gonna be a good player because I remember him having a pretty good game

Gregory - I thought he would behave and become the pass rusher the team has needed for years.

Julius Jones. As A ND fan I thought he was going to be really good. Then those 8 games at the end of 2004 I was sure. What happened to him is a great mystery. All I can think of is that he over muscled and lost his edge in balance and quickness.

I dont remember anyone in this forum or fan base that picked anybody lol. Maybe had high hopes for WHEN PICKED BY COWBOYS but they let you down..ok

Morris Claiborne. Picked high came hyped out of a big school and never lived up to it..maybe not quite a bust but he played like a 4th rounder at best.

Greg Ellis wasn’t a bad player but the fact we passed on Moss made this a no win for him..i cant imagine how many more games Aikman might had won with moss replacing Irving...

Trade for Roy Williams will forever hurt as im a big longhorn fan and thought he was going to bring big numbers here..see Moss being over looked. Those trades for Williams and even Galloway were because we were forever chasing randy moss loss..

Lol, yeah I forgot how excited I was we got GalloWASTE. I didnt even consider the cost back then either.
