Austin Bombings *update* Appears Bomber killed himself as authorities were closing in

I find it odd more people aren't talking about these incidents. I did see a press conference for a few minutes Sunday and they were telling the bomber they wanted to hear his story. They must not have much solid evidence to work with at this point.

It's funny how close to the vest this situation really is being played right now. Funny as in very scary that is, I remember as a kid there was the big panic in the DC because of John Lee Malvo.

Latest possible connection detonated just north of SA at a FedEx facility. The number of federal investigators is growing with the ATF and FBI involved with this serial bomber.

As to the lack of news nationally, only two people have been killed. That's not up to our standards any longer. Like the OP said about the DC area, that was huge news back then and I can remember when I was a kid, one murder was news for weeks. Now. it is a far too common occurrence. Sad commentary about the ongoing evolution of our species.

Sounds like another Ted Kaczynski kind of person. It's sick. If these criminals would put their mind to something productive, they could probably accomplish something. I'm so tired of people getting hurt by these loons.

I work in law enforcement here in Austin, and they're pulling all of our deputies off regular duty just to help address all the "suspicious package" calls in town. Everybody is freaked out to open any package, whether they expected it to be delivered or not.

The media doesn't seem to be sensationalizing these events like they do other topics. Haven't found an agenda like shootings. The sad thing about this is that innocent people are dying either way. Terrorism is terrorism IMO.

I think authorities know who it is now, or at least have a prime suspect/s. I bet they are letting very little info out as to not scare him away, potentially to another region. They are being very quiet with respect to the media.

I just find it interesting how this scenario can remain "hush-hush" but other mass death events get plastered.

They've probably classified some information to prevent copy cats and for the purpose of identifying the person. Just my guess, though I admit I don't work in law enforcement. Hope they catch the sicko.

The first two package bombs were close together. National news reported this and the bomber started branching out. The bombs have gotten more sophisticated and using trip wires. The last I heard was there has been five now. Clues will start showing up.

6. They found another at a FedEx near the airport. They found it before it exploded.
