Bet you he doesn't. Huge mistake if he does. He won' have the proprioception in his knee developed enough yet to play actual game time running in the pocket. Cool. He can throw in non contact with a knee brace on. Show me him dodging pass rushers with an inherently unstable knee. Then we can talk.

We'll see. He's got almost 6 months yet. A nine-month recovery was the optimistic side of his range originally for the AC repair, the partial IT tear, and the meniscus clean up.

No reason? Well, let's see:

Played for an FCS school.
Only played about a year and a half as a starter for NDU, backup the rest of his time in college.
Injured his senior year, missed 8 games.

Yeah, no reason.

Love the 20-20 hindsight...
Considering that Jason had said that was the QB he wanted at the Senior Bowl, it is not a stretch. The Cowboys entire staff liked him , but they didn't have the guts to make a trade up to get him. They knew first hand that he was going to be special. I had this same stance months before that draft along with RS,

I don't remember which one of you dudes I got into it with for saying I didn't care what outside doctors say, Wentz will be starting QB for week 1 of the regular season, but whoever it was, let this be a lesson to you to never disagree with me. I'm always right.

Would you say Wentz is All in For Week 1®?

Wentz in a hoodie and throwing? Sound the alarms! The NFL is now on notice. *totally shuttering*

Paxton Lynch and Connor Cook were high on their list too.

They luckily ended up with the rookie of the year at qb. Worked out well for them and got a cheap quarterback.
We both know that ROY shoulda been Zeke :D

Probably. I think there's a argument for either. I think Dak' job was tougher to do than Zeke's.

maybe more stressful ... Zeke was a workhorse and a eating machine that year . He should of been ROY hands down . He mad Dak and whole Offense look a lot better . Even more proof was this year when he was gone . A RB liek Zeke makes a QBs job 100 x easier

I don't deny that he made Dak's job easier.....but you can't be serious in trying to elude to running back being harder to learn than QB.

You are the one who got into what made Dak's job easier. The guy had arguably ththe greatest rookie campaign of all time.....that's going to get you some votes. Zeke had a great year but not the first time we've seen a running back come in and have success off the bat.

Rookie of the year or coach of the year are only concerning what the person did that one year, it's like winning the Heisman, which is for the best COLLEGE player that year, doesn't mean he's the next great NFL player. ROY or COY means they did great one time, in particular circumstances, it doesn't mean future greatness is guaranteed or even likely.

Landry (if memory serves) won the COY in 1985, going 10-4 with a team of aging vets and lesser talent, but 1986 started the downturn of the Cowboys the next 3 years, he did great considering the team he had to work with, but few if anybody thought it meant the Cowboys were primed to go to the SB in 1986...

Knee surgery has come a long way in recent years. 30 years ago if you tore your acl surgery was a last resort, often the knee was just as bad, or worse, function-wise, as before the surgery. Even 10 years ago an acl tear was a minimum of one year to even be able to fully work out, run, etc. Sure Peterson running 8 months after surgery was remarkable, but others have gotten back on the field in 10 months or so. So it's reasonable to say Wentz MIGHT be back for week 1. But everybody is different, he'll be recovered when he's recovered, otherwise it's all estimates...

How is it possible for him to stand and not be in a wheelchair this soon after surgery?

Good for him. He deserves a quick recovery and to be 100% for the opener.

People don't return 100% from ACL surgery. As a mobile QB, he will never be the same.

His cuts and his strength will be diminished (along with an increased likelihood of reinjury).

I wish him good health. He seems like a righteous dude.

He's a good dude but he's too physical during the game. He plays like an absolute beast. If I am an Eagles fan I'd be like "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!???" He'll kill his body, and the ACL tear was just a warning imo.

Adrian Peterson tore his acl and rushed for 2,097 yards the following season. Not saying he's the new normal for ACL tears, but realistically Wentz was probably like Staubach in that he had instincts to run when the opportunity presented itself, he had to learn that it wasn't his job to run the football. He can, and will, tone that down. So even if he has a bit less mobility, not sure it will make that big a difference in how well the team does with him at qb.

He'll kill his body, and the ACL tear was just a warning imo.

So was Staubach's separated shoulder, he eventually learned taking on linebackers isn't a good idea for a quarterback. But the ACL tear came when he was hit on both sides of his knee at nearly the same time, that doesn't happen that often, was somewhat of a freak injury.

But I agree he'll need to quit running so much, sure he's a pretty big guy, but so are defenders....
