This is mostly what I see the Cowboys doing...a lot of people are talking about a trade up into the early 1st, but I don't see McClay giving up the 2nd it would take to get up to where an impact player will be. Instead, I see us trading back up into the late 1st to secure another starter on a 5 year deal. I also see us getting creative with comp picks and a WR to get a pick back.

19- Leighton Vander Esch LB Boise St- Great Size and SPARQ freak the Cowboys will love. Brings a lot to the table in the box and is also capable of covering.

31- *Trade 50 and 81*- Jessie Bates III S Wake Forest- Perfect as an over the top playmaker in our D. Can hold his own in the run game as well.

88(From Car)- *Trade 116, 171 and TWill*- Derrick Nnadi DT Florida St- I'm going to keep putting Nnandi in my mocks because he's perfect for our D. Short, Stout and strong guy with short area quickness perfect for shooting gaps and creating havoc in the backfield.

137- Wyatt Teller G Va Tech- Multi year starter who is solid all around. Good enough athlete and strong. Might need to add a little NFL weight, but I see him as an NFL starter in the future. 5th in SPARQ for o lineman...you'll sense a theme here.

192- Chase Edmonds RB Fordham- Top 5 SPARQ athlete at RB. Freaky agility and change of direction, especially for a guy over 200lbs. Small school guy that was a very productive workhorse. Could be a good 3rd down back.

193- Jason Cabinda LB Penn State- Drafting a LB from Penn State you know you are getting a smart hard working kid that understands defense. Will serve as solid depth and ST. Played RB in high school, next Keith Smith?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fcl_k9lcHbA

208- Justin Lawler DE SMU- Plays with his hair on fire at all times. Not the biggest or most physically gifted, but may have just enough tools to go with his motor to become a decent rotational pass rusher.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-YalmGb6I0

236- Jeromy Irwin OT Buffalo- 3 year starter in the PAC12 at LT. Needs to add weight and strength but plays with a nasty attitude and a good run blocker. Team captain as well, worth a shot at developing.

Just think it’s too high for Bates

Agreed. Going at 50 is one thing, but losing the third rounder to move up just isn't doing it for me. Only way I would package a 2nd and a 3rd is if a guy that should be going in the teens-early 20's is somehow still there (Payne for instance).

I like the picks but i would not give a 3rd Rder to move up.we should be getting a starter in the 3rd Rd.

I don't blame you for wanting to move up for Bates but maybe a slightly smaller move up involving a 4th instead of the 3rd.

Like Manwiththeplans mock, I want a WR, but I will take this everyday. You fortified the middle of the defense for the next 4 to 5 years.

LVE long term is our Mike with Smith at Will. For 2018 you can mix and match in subs. Im a Bates fan and dont see him as a project. He has upside and has to tighten up parts of his game, but I think he solid enough to be a non liability rookie starter. Nnadi is the perfect 1T for our scheme. He will probobly sit as a rookie on passing downs, but those are downs he has the ability to play

A day 2 is a bit much. Bates is a hard guy to get a good feel for stock wise though. He has been all over the place of late

Maybe I’m wrong, but I think you’ll both be surprised at how high Bates goes. He’s the 2nd best FS in this draft class. He’s not perfect at the moment, but I think his skill set at the position is pretty hard to find.

anybody who has qualms about Vander Esch at 19 needs to watch the original posters highlight video on him. The best coverage linebacker in the draft especially when playing the zone.

Agreed. True centerfield FS are hard to come by. They always go early and much earlier then we think. Good job getting ahead of the Eagles. They will absolutely take him if he’s still on the board. One of Phillys 30 visits.

Just to high for Bates, he will be available at 50 if not later in the 2nd.

Too creative on the trades for JJ anyway. BAtes should be there in the second also.

Vander Esch could be just what we need .

Covers well and can come down hill.

He’s barely scratched the surface of his potential.

Did anybody else's eyes cross when he said he didn't see McClay trading up?

Nnadi is a family friend. Nice kid. It'd be fun to have him on the Cowboys.

The main problem with him it's he gets taken out of run played easy. Doesn't fight through traffic well and gets pancaked by OL, TE and FB. He is a missile when unblocked though and tackles well. Would need to develop for sure in those areas though.
