He still owes us a year. Has this year and next year. If he plays that long at a good level and don’t fail a drug test we will talk. Lol

Exactly, and he owes us for sticking with him. Like, assuming he puts up great numbers, he still shouldn't be asking for the moon from us considering our patience with him.

Hope he can get back playing and helping the Cowboys. More importantly, I hope he can get his life straighten out and become a good citizen which is more important than football.

I mean I have zero expectations at this point, but I would love to see it too.
The Browns fans said all the same things about Josh Gordon that has been said about Gregory in the past two years, and look now? He's back and poised to have a great 2018 with Landry in the slot.

He could be a 10 sack a year guy that makes DLaw easier to let go of in 2019 if......
Nope. You keep them both, elite bookends are a great thing to have and can put you over the top (look at NYG in 2007/2011, & Denver in 2015). Irving is the question mark because of his hit-or-miss run defense as a DT. You can't pay a situational inside pass rusher who doesn't play 4 downs $9 million a year.

If either of them could contribute, or come close to the expectations we've had for them, that would be awesome. And it would go a long way in determining who exactly is manning this team's RDE position.

Right now, it's Crawford, and while he does a nice job and gives his all, he's certainly not the player that you ideally want lining up there.

Mayowa is gone, so there's plenty of room for these young guys to step up.
Crawford is not a RDE. Ideally, on a Super Bowl team, he is a backup LDE. But the problem is, he's way too expensive for that and we already drafted Charlton to be our 3rd DE.

You can argue that Crawford and Vinny Curry are similar players, and both were overpaid roughly the same amount of money and misfits at RDE. But the Eagles are smart and just cut Curry. We already have our (better) version of Brandon Graham in Lawrence. Will Stephen be equally as smart as Howie Roseman and cut Crawford? Time will tell

I can't help but wonder if Goodell might be tempted to disallow Gregory's return, if for no other reason than to get under Jerry's skin! :omg:

I do realize how that could be defined as a dastardly deed but Goodell hasn't exactly been a saint with his spiteful handling of the C-Boys.

I seriously think Goodell caught Jerry banging his wife:laugh:

Only thing that would logically explain Goodell's hatred of Jerry and the Cowboys.

lest we forget, if not for the positive pot test at the combine he was regarded a top 10 pick. his 2013 and 2014 seasons were a billboard for excellence on the playing field. I truly hope he's got it together and returns as one of the best de's in the nfl.

I never understand the thought process that leads to wanting to get rid of a great and young edge rusher.

Also Gregory could lead the league in sacks next year and you still can't build around him.

I was under the impression he was on a 1 year suspension and reinstatement was a formality and paper work.

Sounds great but evidently, that's not the way it works. Even the media is puzzled as to what Gregory's chances might be to get reinstated. All we can do is hope that the information offered to Goodell and the league office is sufficient (in their eyes) to warrant reinstatement. As I understand it, it's being reported that he's on record for being clean for about 2 years now.

Nobody knows what to expect in this scenario . . . sad but true. If that's not enough, Goodell seems prone to being heavy-handed with violators these days, especially those who've been guilty of so many violation incidents. As much as I'd like to see him get reinstated, I have my doubts. Much like the Dallas Cowboys' FO, I'm not really counting on it to materialize.

If Gregory, DLaw, and Irving all have very good to great years in 2018, does anyone think we will have all 3 of them in 2019.

The problem is you can never take a chance on making roster decisions based on him being available the following year. That means you will always have to have redundancy and when you cant afford redundancy, he's the one you have to sacrifice.

He's your Martavis Bryant.

Maybe, but a healthy, mature Gregory will be cheaper than either of the other 2.

Their is no reason for Goddell to deny reinstatement unless there are failed test.
If he does, their is even more proof of a conspiracy.

Gordon was just reinstated last season for the Browns, and he had many more failed tests, or so it seemed that Gregory.

Seeing what Goodell did to Elliott, I wouldn't put it past him to deal a harsh judgment to Gregory. Goodell doesn't need a good reason to display a lack of mercy -- he's already proven that. Then again, I'm trying to stay open minded enough to hold out hope for a player that seems to be trying hard to vindicate himself. Here's hoping Gregory gets treated accordingly with a reinstatement. He's been "straight" for a long time now and I'm sure Goodell knows it.
