Guys...you or I can write these so called articles. Its all speculation, which we do on these message boards. How low journalism has sunk these days..WOW! Makes fish wraps like the Daily Mirror and the Enquirer look credible. This is a nothing story and not worth the time it takes to respond.

Personally I don’t think it will happen. If that was the plan with what to do with the savings, then it should have been worked out before releasing Dez. I’d offer a 3rd this year and condition 4th next year that can go to a 3rd. I’m not giving a 1st or 2nd this year. Those are needed to fill glaring holes.

That's the key point. If the Dez release and Earl Thomas trade were connected, they'd have been connected.

But the fact is that the radio guys and news people get attention by mentioning this possibility. The question is being asked and they get increased attention for trying to answer it.

I say lets move on from both. Our secondary is gonna kick butt this year. I am more worried about the Dline and the linebacker corp.

Heres to staying healthy.

Not sure how you can say this. We were one defensive stop away from the NFC Championship game in 2016. Last year we went 9-7, with Elliott out for 6 games. If Zeke does not get suspended, with the way things fell last year, we’re probably in the Superbowl last year.

Having said that, we just cut a 29-year old player, not sure why we want to sign another one. I’d prefer we stay young. This team has a young core at QB, RB, offensive line, cornerback, etc. They’re going to be competitive for years.

I think they want to shift to Seattle's cover 3. I think they signed Seattles Defensive Coordinator in hopes that he would take over for Marinelli and this year will be a transition.

They said they didn't see a center fielder in Free Agency and i'm guessing they don't see many in the draft either if they are willing to trade for Earl Thomas.

Trading for Earl Thomas makes sense to me. The vet leader in the secondary that knows the system and is oh by the way amazing.

Some reporter in Seattle (their version of Mike Fisher) said that the odds of Earl Thomas to Dallas went from maybe a 5% chance to a 50% chance now that they cut Dez.

He said that the compensation is what is stopping this.. Supposedly they want a 2nd & 4th rounder. Plus you have to extend his deal.

Also, they mention that Dallas has had offers on the table for Dez over the last 100 days but they didn't take those trade offers.

They are criticizing Dallas for not making him a June 1st cut and getting more money back.

It's not that big a deal.

D line will be really good. They need a run stuffer but the D line is good.

Linebackers though... Not so much.

Sean Lee is not dependable and JAylon turns like a sail boat.

Of course they are. They want picks and someone to take over that obscene contract he has. Safeties are not a "money 5"
position and Dallas has never paid big money for them. I don't see any scenario where Stephen and Will make a play
for that player unless Seattle would take a 5th round pick and he would sign for 3mil per year or less.
My hunch is we'll settle somewhere in the middle.

A 4th rounder and either TWill or Bease.
Or
TWill and Bease
Or
A 3rd rounder next year

Or something else of this nature.

If we give up a 2nd and 4th round pick for a safety that is almost 30 years old, I'm going to be extremely pissed. I wouldn't even give just a 2nd round pick. LB or DT in the first and WR in the 2nd. We can't afford to give up those picks.

I think it is what team will blink and I hope it's not Dallas. When we get closer to the draft maybe the Seahawks will lower their asking price. I thinking nothing lower than a 4th maybe I will go a 3rd. There are some good S I like in the draft that are younger and cheaper than Thomas although I do like Thomas but at the right price.

Yeah I don't think defensive line will be a concern even if they don't upgrade the 1tech position. Linebacker is where the problem may occur. It could be very good. Jaylon could go out there and ball. But its just the biggest uncertainty at this point.

I wouldn't do it but if it gets us to the Super Bowl or NFC championship game...a 2nd and a 4th is worth it.

We have to take advantage of Dak not having a giant salary.

Earl Thomas will give you 3 more quality years easy.

I'd do a 2nd.

I don't think we'll have a 13-3 year but who knows. I didn't think 2014 or 2016 would happen and it did. So by chance it does happen again I would like to have a defense that would allow us to actually see Green Bays punter a few times a game.

Plus I think Byron Jones can be a quality corner for us and it moves him back to that position.

Chidobe and Jones out wide with Lewis in the slot. I love that.

I can't see the Cowboys making an investment of that magnitude in a 30 year old player, albeit a future HOFer.

at this junction, hes not going to be the piece that puts us over. we are 2 years out as it is. hes not getting younger.
BS. If you add Thomas and add a LB in the draft this defense is top 10. If Dak can play average and Zeke is heathy for the full year the team can go places.

I think the picks have been the issue all along
I know many think he is the missing piece and would give up premium picks to get him
Personally I’d love to have him but I wouldn’t gut my draft to get him
I think our top 3 picks would be off limits to me
:hammer:

Anyone recall Joey Galloway?

The WR we gave up TWO FIRST round trade picks to Seattle to replace a injured Michael Irvin who had to retire and to help an ageing and starting to get injured more and more QB in a last gasp chance to win?

About the only thing similar to the current case would be the two teams trading.

Nobody is talking two first round picks.
We are not replacing a future HOF player who just got injured and has to retire.
We are not trying to trade for this player to help an ageing oft injured QB trying in a last gasp effort to win.

Again...other than the two teams trading I am not sure why we should remember Galloway when talking Earl Thomas....and if you can get Earl Thomas for a 2nd and a 4th max vs 2 first rounders when Galloway was at best a probowler alternative once in his career vs a mutliple pro bowler in Earl Thomas...again...why should we recall Galloway?

I would also say this...the Cowboys have shown almost no interest in Safeties in visits for the draft...that would seem to indicate a few things...

1. They are being sneaky stealthy genius mode to full the rest of the league in our intentions (derwin maybe) which with this team seems to be a long shot.
2. They are happy with Heath and Xavier and will just draft some safety down the draft for depth
3. After getting rid of 88 they are seriously thinking about Earl Thomas .

Personally I think 2 and 3 are real options...#1 only comes into play if they don't get ET and somehow Derwin James starts to really fall.

It makes sense if you’ve got a hole at S and you’ve got Richard that you’d want Thomas if he’s available.

A 2 and a 4 is too expensive for me. I’d do a 3 and a 4 though.

We need to hear the Bowman rumors heat up again if we’re going to do it, too. Too many holes for the draft otherwise.
