Will defenses stack 9 on the line now?

With no threat of a reciever demanding double coverage down field?
you do realize this is the NFL and the receivers we have are not terrible,, putting 9 on the line doesnt work if the offense adjusts for it...infact i would go so far as to say they are average to above average...if you want to say we dont have a number 1, fine i agree....but beasly, williams, switzer are all solid and any team that puts 9 on the line is going to get burned.

They could put one guy on the line who gets pressure and Dak would fold like a 2 dollar bill. But we could always say, everybody was hurt and that one guy was just luck... lmao

Zeke folded last year as a 2 dollar bill also, going from 5.3 ypc, to 4.1 ypc last year.

No I would not stack 8 or 9 but I would play my defense to condense everything into the box. If they trot out Hurns,Twill, Beasley and Witten, if I was the DC I would stay zone in the underneath and the box area maybe go 1 on 1 on the outside with single high S. Or I would just go Cover 2.

Actually, that’s the strategy they used in the first 8 games, with Zeke. And Dak was playing pretty well and in pace for over 40 TD’s.

Once Zeke was out, defenses played back and dared Alfred Morris to beat them.

So it’s really the opposite of what you said......

Dak needs to play better. But if you honestly think it’s as simple as what you stated, you’re mistaken.

i do think that. when the run game wasn't working and they had to rely strictly on Dak, it wasn't a good thing. look at the final two games. Even with Zeke back he struggled. Granted Tyron was hurt but still. Defenses will continue to focus on taking out Zeke and see what Dak can do

except and Beasley and switzer only run one route combo the option which is 5-7 yards

You do realize it's uncommon to fold a 2 dollar bill, right? :muttley:

We seemed to fair pretty well when Dez was out before. It's not like we're giving up 1000 yards per year in Dez. If we were giving up the Dez from 4 years ago - now then we have an issue. That is simply not the case though.

I find it funny that the same people who complain that Dez/Dak have no chemistry are now all of a sudden concerned that Dez is no longer here. Doesn't make a whole lotta sense.

You’re right they are going to focus on Zeke. I agree. I was moreso pointing to the fact that having Zeke also alters coverages and how the linebackers and safeties play. They are much more likely to creep forward or hesitate when zeke is in the back field. Due to the threat that Zeke poses.

Thus making things easier for Dak. Than when Alfred Morris was playing.

I’m not sure who Dak has chemistry with now?

And for the record even with less production last couple years Dez 800 yard 6-8 TD seasons still led the team cumulatively with over 1600 yards and 14 TD’s..

Was Dez even doubled last year? LOL. Not sure he would have warranted single! (snarky remark..)

FYI Dez was doubled on 31% of his snaps last year IIRC, which was 7th in the league. He was behind Hopkins, Keenan Allen, OBJ, and Brown off the time off my head (according to PFF).

and i completely agree with you that when Zeke is in, it'll be easier for Dak. My fear is that unless Zeke is dominating, Dak will struggle. if that makes sense. I could be wrong and Dak could make all the right throws regardless of how the running game is going, but for now that's my main concern with the offense

We exaggerate how often teams stack the box against us. Zeke only rushed against 8 in the box on 35% of his carries. Plenty of RBs faced more stacked boxes last year. Alfred Morris faced a greater % if stacked boxes than Zeke.
If stats tell you defenses played the run more against Morris than Zeke, then you know those stats are meaningless.

If one these guys can't beat one on one coverage were in trouble.
