When the 2nd round comes and goes and Thomas is still not on the Cowboys roster, Fisher will be saying our 3rd round pick is going to Seattle for Thomas.

Let's hope at that point, with pick 81, that he's actually right.

Yes...our 3rd and both 4ths would do it.
Man, that's a lot to give up though

It is, so we'd really have to believe in the WR we're trading up for ... like we did when we traded up for Lawrence. (Or if we wanted to keep the fourths this year, then we'd have to package future picks with the third-rounder, probably along with a late-round pick or two.)

Most also believe a deal at the point is a long shot.
I dont think it gets done during the draft unless they have been negotiating behind the scenes for a bit. Its not the draft, its the contract negotiations that will kill it. Seems alot to pull off in a day.

I could see it fall through and being revisited later

He's not injury prone. He missed only 2 games last season and had a broken leg in 2016 on a freak injury. I don't see ET as injury prone at all.
Dont bother people like that will use that term in covenience. But would have called guys like Romo and Dez non inury prone, but jump all over the Lee injuries.

I understand the whole not wanting to give up the 2nd round pick, but ET would put this defense on another level. And isn't the goal every year to win? I mean, we all want a Super Bowl and ET could potentially help us get there. Sometimes you gotta take some risks to win and to me this is worth a gamble.

Last years 2nd round pick wasn't a waste. That's a start at least.
The jury is still out on this statement. This year will complete the tale. I hope it is true. What a tandem we will have if he is the beast the Cowboys are hoping for.

Its not just trading away picks for Thomas, he wants to be the highest paid safety in the league. It's not like the Cowboys have a boat load of $$$ to spend, they have some but....

That is overblown--a immediate emotional statement after an injury.

Maybe the retirement part is overblown, but the rest really isn't. He is going to be expensive in acquisition and retention and in a position that has never really been the focus in Dallas.

Smh......dumb move. Love the player, but he's 29. Give them a 3rd or 4th and nothing more.

I love the player. I'd love him more for a 3. Although if you told me you can get a HOF player with your 2nd round pick for 3-4 years or an average player for 6, give me the HOFer.

We are in a "win now" mode. Trade for Thomas and be aggressive.

That same aggressive attitude is what won Philly the Ship last year!

Sure, just as the jury is still out for Jaylon Smith at lb.

i would do it. i don't care if he's only going to be at the top of his game for the next 3 or 4 years. i'm tired of watching the 2nd rate safeties we've put out there for the last decade.
