The Cowboys reached at No. 19. They could have had Calvin Ridley, the top wide receiver in this draft. They could have had Alabama inside linebacker Rashaan Evans, the No. 23 player on my Big Board. Instead, they went with Boise State linebacker Leighton Vander Esch, who had one great season and a great combine. Is he a one-year wonder? I ranked him No. 37 overall in this class. Sure, linebacker was one of the Cowboys' top needs, but this is a reach.

Doesn't Rashaan also only have 1 year starting experience? With less stelar stats? Is that why he's not a one-year wonder, because his year wasn't that wonderful?

Who is Mel Kiper?

Is he working with the Cowboys front office?

Did he attend to the special workout of LVE in Dallas?
He has only been covering the NFL Draft and evaluating talent for 35 years... he knows nothing.

He's always been hit and miss and he hasn't been doing his draft guides for a few years so he's not doing the kind of research he had in the past. Frankly he retired when he stopped the guide but shows up for espn to keep some money flowing but he needs to hang it up for good. Dane Brugler is way better, it's not even close.

There are no winners, loses and question marks.
Not a single draft class as played a single snap in the NFL.

Any one of us can make baseless claims as Mel can and be just as accurate if you grade this draft three years from now.

The melvins have to quote money because they can't quote production.

There's a reason why the Chiefs got the universal worst signing of the offseason award.

Remember when Phil Costa was proven a good player when he signed elsewhere? Good times. They'll forget all about this one too when that complete bum flames out in Kansas City.

It might also be due to the incredible 40 times posted at his pro-day and the combine. sarc/off
The guy was surrounded by elite talent, and produced the equivalent of jack-squat. Evans looks like an ILB in a 3/4, I liked him as a low first rd pick until he refused to run. Ask yourselves this, was there a medical reason or was he just a pompous jerk?
