i was going to see it on day 2 with my nephew. he forgot and thought we were going sunday so i didn't make it. looking back i'm kinda glad.

now that i've said that i'll go into why i simply don't care to watch it now.
in xmen 137 jean gray died. it was then as i was young and impressionable that i discovered killing people in the marvel universe is never the end of their story. in fact, it's more like they took a nap and came back from either a dream sequence, reversal of time and so forth. superman did it in 82, hell superman is busy dying these days now too. well for a bit.
i'm just sick of stories where they kill people for the emo-draw and then go "just kidding" a few pages later for whatever bullcrap reason they can muster. go given this i'm not likely to see infinity wars or part 2 where everything gets undone by defeating thanos somehow.

[Bold] Please do not mention that issue. It and the issues associated with it are one of a few gems from my comic book collection. One of the best stories ever told, inside and outside comic books. Just thinking about that issue and the Dark Phoenix saga puts knots in my stomach knowing FOX will do the story justice when they release the movie based on it this February...
...or massacre it. There is no gray area for me. FOX has an opportunity of making a classic blockbuster film. I think they have the cast for it. I think they have the right actress for Jean in Sophie Turner (and a natural redhead to boot). The supporting cast is solid, although I do not know what the plan is for Wolverine with Jackman bowing out. I would hope and pray they allowed the director of X-Men: First Class, Matthew Vaughn, to direct the film.
Marvel/Disney has done a fantastic job presenting the cosmic element to movie audiences, which would only help DP. Somehow adding the Shi'ar into the plot would hit a home run for me. There is just so much that could go right for the movie but I have a sick feeling the opposite will happen instead.
Sorry for the rant.
And now.Normally I would agree with the soap opera "I'm dead. No I am not. Syke!" angle but I think the inclusion of the Infinity Stones (especially the Reality Stone) in the story allows for leeway here. After all, the stones make anything literally possible.

Which part was weird? The part involving what was shown on Earth? The part shown on Titan? Or both? [Edit] I am assuming you are not referring to the post credits scene too.

Loved it. First decent MCU villain since Loki. Thanos was great, and actually had character and "reason" for what he was doing, even if he was a certified psychopath.
It has it's flaws that I could pick at, but was solid enough for me to get over them rather easily. The simple fact that they were able to pull together so many characters in a single movie and actually make it work as well as they did is pretty impressive to me.

One of the best "bad guy wins" endings I've seen. Sure we know the characters will be back, but they were still able to tug some heart strings. It's just awesome to see the Bad Guy take his plan all the way to the bank and get away with everything, 100% successful.

I would say there has been a wealth of good Marvel villains brought to the screen. Ultron. Hela..Ego. Vulture. The Winter Soldier or Andrew Pierce (my opinion switches back and forth between the two/sue me
) etc., but Thanos and Loki are head and shoulders above the rest imo.

Went SAturday with grandson. He is a huge marvel fan. The kid has season tickets to Universal so it is in his blood and grew up with Spiderman and Captain America. Anyway, I likde the movie ok for that type of movie but he loved it. He was pretty bumbed out about some of the ending but I told him Superman and Batman were going to probably come and save the day in the next movie. Then he had to tell me how DC and Marvel can Never get together. I dont know, it is over my grandfather paygrade. I never knew anything about DC, Marvel and all the differences. I just always thought they were all super heros working together to save earth. I guess I was wrong.

Fair enough but I think Marvel/Disney's track record will soften any criticism when Part 2 is released. It would not surprise me if Part 2 exceeds Part 1 if they continue using the comic book story as a skeletal reference for the screenplay.

I forgot about Vulture and will concede that he was a fairly decent villain.
Ultron, Hela, Ego are generic and 1 note as they come. I am bad and strong and I will kill the good guys cuz I am bad and enjoy being bad for the sake of being bad.
It's not to say that the villains weren't "cool". Hela was cool as hell every time she was on screen.
Andrew Pierce may fit in the catagory of a decent Villain.
Winter Solider is just a Thug in that movie, hardly a "Villain". He's just the Villain's muscle and is hardly a character until he's fleshed out in Civil War at which point he is no longer a bad guy.
Opinions though.

I thought it was absolutely tremendous. As a fan of the genre, I've never seen it done any better. And much like Black Panther, they actually had you understand the villain's point of view. Whether you agreed with it or not, you understand why they feel the way that they do and their motivations. It's something that hasn't been done enough in these films, but I'm glad to see it being done now.
I thought it was a terrific choice to have the bad guy win. Knowing that they had another film to work with allowed them that freedom and credit to them for doing it. I didn't see that end coming and was very pleasantly surprised.
