If some guy barely making the squad isn't spending the offseason trying to get better, he's toast anyway.

Neal took off a lot of weight to become a FB. Down to 280. And likely was focusing any study and training on that.
Down to 280 ?

I think you're right. I thought he was around 295, and there was noise about him playing 1tech. It's hard to see what we'd ever do with him. Is he supposed to be the next Aaron Donald?
He’s just another bubble player trying to make it in the nfl

I mean this is pretty typical for this organization. We've seen this before in how they handle the DT spot. This also tells me they have no desire to bring in an outside DT.

Honestly, I don't think the organization's beliefs on the DT position will change unless they eventually hire a DC who puts a premium on DT play. I think Stephen has wholly bought into the Marinelli method.

Perfectly fine young swing tackle with two starts.
Hey, you're a guard now! Turn yourself into one this offseason.
Hey, you're a tackle again! Turn yourself back into one this week. Don't worry, if you have problems with only a week to transform yourself, we'll hang you out to dry for most of the game because Next Man Up!

Backup lineman often have to have that kind of versatility to make a team Looney has to be able to play G and C to make the team. Flemming has played both OG and OT in his career. That's the way the team can get away with limiting the number of roster spots they have to use on O-Lineman.

In any case, it doesn't really make sense to believe Green hadn't worked at OT in practice at all until Tyron went down. He obviously was considered the first backup, so it's most likely that once Cooper got the starting OG gig, Green was then set up as a backup at both OG and OT.

First we hear Tavon Austin is going to be a web back from Stephen Jones.
Then he hear that he will primary be a WR from Linehan.

Tomorrow we will hear he is being moved to FB.

I keep going back to "Stephen talks too much"

280 pound FB. He has played in 7 games and had 8 tackles in his career. Not bad. Thought he was a DE? Not a DT.

Teams generally don't try to get T-G flexibility out of young players they're developing, who have had little experience.

And clearly it didn't work out here.

Old man Marinelli has lost what few marbles he had left. We will once again go into the season with a garbage line and wonder why we can't get any turnovers or why we cannot even stop a QB who is playing on crutches.

It seems apparent that we are attempting to get by with as little attention to the DT position as we possibly can. In fact, DT and safety need to become recognized as worthwhile positions to be respected before we're able to be a serious SB contender. Changes are required but will they be given the attention they obviously need? We're about to find out. The investment required will surely be viewed as a fairly undesirable expense by our FO.

The Patriots did it with Fleming. He was filling in all along the O-Line as needed from very early on in his career. At the same point in his career that Green is, Looney was shuffling between Center, LG and RG as needed. Besides, I think the move to OG was Green's chance at development into a starter. The Cowboys likely had already decided he wouldn't start at OT, which is probably why they tried him at LG to begin with, and why Collins was moved to OT instead of leaving him at LG and putting Green at RT. Once Green didn't win the LG spot, he became a backup, not a developing starter.

Cut him already let's stop this dance we all know if he was worth a damn at DT they would have never moved him to FB.
Well that's the thing. I thought he looked good at DT last year. Didn't get the move to switch positions at all.
