I don't think so Sam. If what is reported is accurate, they have found explosive devices at the school and in the surrounding area. This doesn't sound like a typical shooting spree.

Agreed, I know people freak out when the word "wall" is mentioned but a quick fix might be to build a type of barrier to high schools. Only have a few entry/exit points with detectors.

This seems to be the fad these days, so make it difficult to get a gun in at least. It is too easy for anyone to come and go as they please.

I don't like the idea of caging students but enough is enough.

so punish the students? Ignore the obvious and punish the students who are already traumatized all across the country?

Insane.

Ya,know? I had some wwII & korean war veterans as school teachers,,,there shouldn't be a looming 'death star' foreboding appearance to our nations school systems( I recall it being bad enough in forebodement back when I was forced to attend),,,, look man!,,,just authorize a 20% mandatory CCW in the teachers employed or hired across the board nationwide and this wished upon galvanizing fantasy of firearm disarmament in America,,,will come to a smoking screeching HALT.

Metal detectors means fully time security to man them and every entrance. Is that really feasible? (like court houses)

Instead, we could have MASSIVE electromagnets. This way, if someone tried to enter the building with a piece of metal. They would be slammed against the magnet killing them instantly. This would prevent them from shooting anyone inside. o_O
Wearing oral braces will be the death of some students.

Unfortunately this will never end. They may be able to come up with some plan to eliminate a shooter from entering the school building, but then the shootings will happen outside in the parking lot or when students are beginning to enter the building. This issue is complicated with no real way to completely end it.

I don't understand how it would be a punishment. Lots of schools have closed campus so I'm kinda not understanding?

I have already stated in the past about that. I am for some qualified teachers having guns and/or hiring ex-military for security. It seems many are against that or not in agreement on the "how" to implement.

We can't talk about the politics of guns here, so I will leave it at that :D

With the different groups pulling their ideals in every direction, I went with the next possible feasible solution. At least, it may only be a needed temporary solution until something can be done to permanently fix school shootings.

What is insane is that lawmakers(politicians) are all about talk with no action while kids keep getting shot. Like I said, I don't like punishing the kids and lock them in school but something needs to be done now.

this school today had 3 resource officers and one was a retired police officer. He is currently in the hospital after being shot.

I do have an agenda, they have no place in society. None. Zero. Zilch.

It can and will happen. Catering to these morons is almost over. There are no other solutions. People are shot everywhere in this country and you cant "Build a Wall" around everything and shouldn't have to.
will never happen, brother

I don't want to go down this rabbit hole, but just sayin'
I'll step away now

because he said he wanted the school to only have a few entries/exit and mentioned a Wall around the school. That is insane.

Why should students be punished and have to go to schools that are similar to prisons? How is that a place to learn and grow up? Why do students have to be punished so one particular faction of the country has to get their way and make millions of dollars off of this one particular thing. Why are the students to be punished?

all this nonsense when the answer is right in front of everyone but we can't have it because of greed and peoples fascination with being Rambo.

Well, it's as good a method as I've heard thus far. I mean, I really haven't heard any ideas that can work thus far.

I caution you, you are on the cusp of political discussion here. This whole, "Why do students have to be punished so one particular faction" thing is not going to fly. We both know what you mean here.

Just like pot would never be legal, Gay marriage would never happen, gambling on sports would never happen.

A whole generation of kids who are about to be voting age have one big issue that is important to them. They will make it happen and I look forward to it.

It is to me. BP already cautioned everybody. I'm not argue this point. Discuss the topic but if you take this political or if I even think you are taking it political, I'm going to error on the side of caution. We are not going to do this theebs.

Mine are getting closer to that age. What was once a random event is now becoming a harsh reality and my opinions change as they get older.

In my day, we had the freedom to have fun in HS, sneak out at lunch to go eat, or even skip first period and try to sneak in past "grandma"......the sole parking lot security guard

I want the same for my girls but protection is priority #1 now, no matter at what expense :(
Man, most of my HS crowd were packing heat either under the seat or locked in their cars trunk,I toted a shotgun in the trunk of my NOVA when I was 16 going to school,,, er,,,I never once entertained the thought of using it in an evil manner, even while catching 3 licks from the asswhacking paddle board or being expelled ,,,there is a chemical imbalance in the brain waves of today's functionally Disturbed,,,or,,,the grand plan will be continuously implemented& repeated as necessary in order to achieve the results that they desireo_O

Making a school a prison is not the answer. There are a multitude of far better solutions.

How about the idiot who showed up at the school with a flag and a gun saying he was there to help. Prime candidate for having his head examined and his license to carry revoked.

how can you talk about a school shooting without it? The cause of Death for these students today is what exactly?

go ahead and ban me if you want.

You gotta find a way or just don't discuss it in this forum. These rules are not negotiable. This is something the Staff feels very strongly about theebs. It's just how it is theebs and you know it.
