There is absolutely no sound football reason why Taco should be so disliked by fans. I mean, unless you never liked him to begin with but what he did last year shouldn't have convinced anyone one way or the other of what he's going to be.

I said before that draft that the instant impact of the 2016 class will cause fans to have unrealistic expectations of 2017 and that's exactly what happened with Taco Charlton.

What I'm curious to see is where Taco's snaps will come from. He should get a couple series a game backing up DLaw at LDE. RDE suddenly seems very crowded with a slimmed down Crawford, Tapper, Armstrong, and hopefully Gregory so I'm not sure how many he'll get there. I could see Taco getting a lot of his snaps this year at DT in passing situations.

He better focus on sacks, tackles and total disruption in the pocket. Put away the little cute taco bar celebrations and start playing/acting like a first round NFL DE looking for a ring.

One of the big question marks for the upcoming season is Taco Charlton. What is he? What should we expect? What should his contribution be?

Taco should be better, but should get lots of rotation.

It's unclear that he even starts over Crawford in the base, or beats out the other guys in the nickel, particularly if Gregory comes back.

I see lots of competition at DE, and Lawrence probably only rarely comes off the field.

Taco, Crawford, Tapper, Armstrong, Gregory. That's a lot of players who will want snaps at RDE.

Right D End is cram packed if Gregory comes back and I think that’s a good thing.

Not saying much, Seattle had one of the worst O lines in the NFL. Just sayin’.

It’s really sad when “fans” are quick to point out the negative of thier ‘so-called’ team, rather than see the point of my post.

Yes, anybody that actually follows football realizes that Seattle’s OL wasn’t the best.. but they are all professionals nonetheless. When a player is being questioned ab their abilities as this tread seems to be ab Taco... then, a sound perspective and reasonable expectation should be acquired. Taco was a late first round DE talent within a weak DE draft class. So yes, Taco was a 1st rd pick..with more like 2nd rd qualities. So what! He may have even been a late 2nd rd pick in a stronger DE class.

The point is.. when a “1st round” rookie talent is suppose to excel against weaker Pro competition, like Seattle’s OL.......HE DID.

For the casual fan to cast shade or act like Taco is a lesser player bc of this fact is ridiculous.. and frankly, I’m embarrassed as a fellow fan. Taco has the talent. But bc his production isn’t coming quick enough for some.. he’s not worth it. Smh. Thankfully Dallas didn’t listen to the DeMarcus Lawrence doubters of the world. Taco isn’t a trouble maker, continues to do what a pro IS suppose to do.. this is why he WILL excell.. just not on your timeline. Just saying.

Taco played well late in his rookie season, so I don't get all the hate.

I think he will ultimately be a real good clean up sack guy that will benefit from a solid interior rush. His length and hustle will net him 6 sacks alone.

If the Cowboys ran more "game" pressure strategies he might yet blossom into an Aldon Smith caliber player.

But the force on the line is D-Law. No question.

First of all, I never said he wasn’t worth it. I did say I didn’t like the pick, he didn’t impress me his first year and I hope he gets better. It’s hilarious that you don’t want to take into consideration the competition he was playing against. If you just want to chalk it up to they’re all professionals and he’s just a rookie then go for it.

I happen to evaluate both sides of the ball and when a guy goes in the first round I expect more, not just against the some of the weakest competition in the league. “Frankly” as a “fellow fan” I’m embarrassed you have such low standards. You must not have been a fan very long or you’re content with the mediocre results this team has had over the past 20 years. Jerry loves fans like you!

I think Taco is going to be consistently disruptive and will have around 6-9 sacks.
He'll rotate along with some combination of
Crawford/Gregory/Ealy/Armstrong - wow, that is a lot of DEs - but I think he'll get the most snaps.

Taco was pretty soft last year. Almost no flash.

What do you expect in his second year?
Agreed!

We are talking about what we should expect this year?

My guesstimate says he’ll show better this year. Whether or not he pleases everyone given his draft status is probably unlikely. That said, our overall draft record the past couple of years has been pretty good.
