Stunning when you think about it and think about where his health was in his rookie year that this front office would waste a year by activating him. He wasn't remotely ready nor would he have been in the playoffs if there had been a push.

If this guy turns into a player this year, you have him for 2 years before you have to pay him....

The good news is Dallas has him and I would be willing to bet they can get a deal worked out especially if he plays like Luke Kuechly.

He has only accrued one season; when his deal runs out he will be a RFA.

Jaylon has 1 accrued season.

As confirmed by OverTheCap

Accrued season rules are why drafting injured players is probably a plus. The player can start to partake of NFL training and schooling without us losing a year of his rights. Goes on IR. Doesn't take a roster spot. We're getting him for *extra* time, not less.

Randy Gregory, drafted oh so long ago? 1 accrued season. He's probably put on that weight he needed by now.

Jerry is going to be insufferable if he gets both those guys on the field this year. And for the following *2* years.

This guy has gotten more praise and regard as some superstar, than any player in the history of ever, for someone that hasn't really earned it.

And just as many people emotionally invested in his failure. You fit the type.

Personally, i just want to see where he is athletically now without the brace and love his work ethic and dedication.

Well, I am emotionally invested in seeing BOTH the 2015 and 2016 2nd round picks, BOTH of whom were considered top 5 talents coming out of college, and BOTH of whom were touted as potential #1 overall picks while in college, coming back and spending the next 3 seasons terrorizing opposing offenses.

If he turns out to be Special than we we pay him and rightfully so. If he Plays like last season we dont have to worry about a big contract anyway.

That certainly would be a special thing. To see the patience and support given to both players - for different reasons - ultimately pay off for all parties.

And I hope both players factor in that loyalty when they do hit free agency.

The one year experience is invaluable. Especially with the mental side if the game.

Where? Most of what I've read here is people saying he's terrible even though he was forced into action too soon last year due to injury.

This season should be very telling assuming the reports about his knee are accurate. Hopefully he becomes some superstar.

So how I understand it.. he’s under contract for two more seasons and then RFA after that.. by then, Sean Lee will prob be near the end of his career. So if Jaylon is who we all hope he can be by then, signing him won’t be a problem. Not to mention, he seems like a ‘Sean Lee’ team player and might be willing to sign a hometown discounted contract being that Dallas has been good to him throughout this process.

And if he had sat out last year he would be going into this year with no NFL experience and having to learn and get used to the game at the NFL level from scratch. If he is healthy this year he will be much more prepared to contribute than he would if he hadn't played last year.

I think Dallas will get the benefit by sticking with him. I also think he earned the right to play last year. Why people think he was so horrible last season boggles the mind. He played like a talented rookie - rough start, better as the season went along, and flashed big play potential.
