along with Gil Brant and Jay Novacek.

JJ should have been in been 10 years ago. His inclusion is a no brainer and his continued omission soils the entire credibility of the Ring.

For me Gil and Novacek are tricky. I dislike Halls and Rings that honor too many people. To my way of thinking induction should only be reserved for the elite of the elite. In my world Cooperstown would have about 2/3 less members and would meet once every 3 years.

Brandt? With Schramm already in the Ring are you really going to honor his personel director? Granted Brandt was an industry pioneer, but do you really want a PPD up there with Staubach, Landry, and Smith?

Novacek, love him. He meant the world to those 90s teams but with Witten, who holds all positional records, sure to be inducted do you expand the Ring to honor a 5x pro bowler.

I'm probably more comfortable with Novacek than Brandt at this point but I'm not going to riot if both are included.

They were talking about Jimmy on the radio and speculated that if Landry's Fedora was part of his ROH plaque, then would they use a silhouette of Jimmy's hair.

I personally think a fishing boat and a Heineken would be better.

Yeah they need to put Jimmy in before he dies. Novacek was an important player in the Super Bowl runs and he should be in there I think the Ring of Honor for this Stadium should mainly concentrate on the great players for Jerry's teams not the past eras

Jimmy should be up there, no question. It shouldn't have taken this long. Novacek? That's tricky. Where do you draw the line on players from those SB teams? Haley's in the ROH, and he was basically a hired gun who was in Dallas for a few seasons. But, you could argue that the Cowboys don't win 3 SB's without Haley. Can we say the same about Novacek? That's a tough call.

I look forward to the day Jimmy is inducted. Gil Brandt absolutely belongs in the ROH. He was and still is a personnel guru. He was part of the holy trinity: Landry/Schramm/Brandt. As far as Novacek, I wouldn't be mad if he went in, but I can think of others who should go in before him.

Co-sign on all of this.

And The Godfather Gil Brandt isn't getting any younger. I think he should be inducted while he's still here to enjoy it.

Novacek was a key player for those 1990s team, earning a Pro Bowl nod from 1991-1995. His numbers aren't the same as today's tight ends, but he was among the top for the time period he played. In 1990, 1991 and 1992, he led all tight ends in receptions each year. He was the equivalent of Witten during that time period as a receiver, but not as a blocker. It's too bad that his first five seasons were spent dwelling in obscurity on the Cardinals roster or he might be a Hall of Famer. Instead, he only has six years with the Cowboys that define his career.

I don't have a problem with that. There are certainly some deserving players from those 1970s teams that should be in there.

Do you guys think any of the greats "pre Jerry", who haven't been inducted into the ROH, will ever get their chance? :(

Update - After staring at my original posted that started this string I changed my memory mind.

Brandt deserves to be in the ROH without question, and way before Novacek. Brandt revolutionized player personal scouting. He laid the modern template down on how to build a team. His contributions to the game have spanned decades.

In sum. Gil Brandt is a foundational part of the NFL story. He probably belongs in Canton and he certainly belongs in the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor.

I think Witten gets in before Harvey Martin. Thats unfortunate but Jerry makes the decisions and he likely wasn't a huge cowboy fan in the 70's. Jimmy Johnson should get in b/c after 22 years of futility, Jerry should realize by now that he would have no rings were it not for that man.

Jimmy would not have any rings without Jerry Jones. That’s that! :D
