How long before the Cowboys win a SB?

We've got a team that ought to be qualifying for the post season and hovering for the foreseeable future. From there, it's impossible to say who will get to and win a Championship. If we don't get there, or close, in the next 3 seasons, we'll be reloading again.

A lot depends on how well Dak plays from here on out.
It is NOT impossible to predict who will get to a Championship. Look at the teams that make it to Superbowls. Their HC’s prepare their teams to play well and make adjustments vs good teams. Hard to see Garrett doing that when you look at his history vs playoff caliber teams. Also, Dak will be elite again if Garrett’s game plans and in game adjustments are not basic and predictable.

If it weren't impossible, there wouldn't be a Vegas line for it.

It isn't coaching that's held the Cowboys back, and it's not hard to see Garrett doing it at all. It's just harder to do when you can't stop elite QBs because you're fielding average or below average defenses.

If the basic gamelans and adjustments were actually an issue, or if those things mattered, it'd have been showing up in the offensive production for years. The opposite's been the case. For whatever reason people want to ignore that and give the defense a pass. I have no idea why.

I think the Cowboys will win a Super Bowl within the next three years and could be as soon at this year. In fact I'll be a bit surprised if they don't win one within 3 years and at least appear in the SB twice within the next five years.
Without Garrett I agree. With Garrett, I wish, but NO WAY, unless he learns from his past mistakes, which he never does. He just rationalizes his mistakes!

The defense definitely needs to get better, but Garrett is the main problem. What happened to Garrett’s great O when Romo went down. Garrett’s O made everyone of those backups( including Cassell who went 11-5 as a back up for Belicheat) look terrible, and I mean terrible. Every 3rd and 8 was a 3 yard dump off. Nothing changed about that Ugly offense all year. No adjustments by Garrett. Reminded me of the Atlanta fiasco last year!!!

GTB, we've been over this. No matter how intriguing the notion, your Mum is much too intelligent a human being, to ever stoop to such depths.

Besides, I already got 4 kids that don't hardly listen to anything I say.

That's OK, me dad don't want me either. He left me at the pub, gave me a pound to buy fish and chips and a lemonade. Told the barkeep to contact me mum and the Children's Fund charity. I'll be sitting at the dock of the bay. Alone.
No reply is necessary. Rejection is me middle name. Actually it is Reginald. But who cares, right?

If you can let me know when the Jones family will no longer own the team or when they will at least get rid of Garrett, I could then begin to formulate an answer to the question. With the current ownership and head coach in place, my answer is never. The current culture, schemes, and game management simply are not capable of producing a championship. I’m not even going to bother with the caveat that I hope I’m wrong because I know I’m not.
The thread should've been locked right after this post. There's no better response than this one.

Except it’s not really people giving the defense a pass. The defense gets ripped on a weekly basis around here. It’s simply the fact as HEAD COACH he’s responsible for offense, defense and special teams. If anything, you often give him a pass for the fact you don’t think the defense has been good enough, despite the fact he has responsibility for the defense too.

You always point to the successes the offense has had as proof he’s a really good head coach and yet his job responsibilities also involve the defense.

But I’ll spare you the time...... I know your retort will be, he hasn’t had talent on defense.

Oh and yes, over the recent years he’s shown flaws in his offensive game plans, etc.

Well, I'd have a lot more sympathy for you, if you hadn't taken that money that your old man gave you and spent it on a pint instead of fish and chips and lemonade.....

Just saying.

Not while Jerry’s alive. 20+ more years prob.

How does everyone like Jerry if we go 40 years in-between Super Bowls? Lol

I must have missed all of that postseason success under Gailey, Campo, Parcells and Wade. Apparently, the Boys were rolling until Garrett came along and will get back to it as soon as he's gone. Cool beans.

It's been 20+ years since the Cowboys won a divisional round playoff game. Super Bowl? I'll believe it when I see it.

Some people have already crowned him as a miracle worker.

Depending on the Cowboys fan, Kris Richard is the secondary coach, the defensive coordinator in-waiting, the eventual replacement for Jason Garrett, or the guy that's gonna get us Earl Thomas.

Me, I would have no trouble with him being any of those things. Or, all of them at some point.
