We’re just going to cut our best WR, keep the same coaches, and Garrett is going to snap his fingers and suddenly become a strategic playcaller that’s aggressive on 4th down.

It's almost as believable as all the sudden dallas will be back to a 13 win team this season as if schedules dont change.

who gives a F what Philly thinks/does. I dont want to know much less copy anything they do
Having experienced backup depth at QB isn’t a bad model to copy — especially when it results in a SB win.

Of course, if 22 seasons with no advancement past the 2nd-round of the postseason really floats your boat...

When we have been successful running the ball we have also been aggressive on 4rth down and short. This is nothing new...

Dallas has not really been that aggressive.

Philly went for it on 4th down 26 times, succeeding 17 of those. Dallas was 8th in the league in attempts...making 10 of 18.

But it’s the *circumstances* that are more telling.

Consider some of Philly’s attempts:
4th and 8 on opponent’s 43
4th and 5 from their own 49!
4th and 8 from opponents 32
4th and 5 from opponents 17
4th and 6 from opponents 40
...etc

Nope. Stephen has been to seminars, webinars, and even has been the speaker in some Saber metrics events...

We got this.

I am all for the Cowboys going for it more often on 4th and < 2 yards. I can't get behind them doing it on 4th and 3+ yards. I just don't have confidence in this offense to move the ball through the air when the defense knows it coming. I don't think they are built for that.

the drought is because of our poor coaching/ownership not because we didnt have an experienced backup qb

I'd want a well balanced offense if I were going into a season planning on going for it on fourth down a bunch of times - not a one dimensional offense that will be easy to predict.

You are reflecting the traditional conservatism of many coaches and fans.

Suppose it’s 4th and 3 on the (opponents) 35 yard line

If the odds are 50-50 to get a 1st down...leading to a TD
...that’s better point value than a 90% field goal attempt.

We were tied for fifth in the league last year when it came to fourth down conversions per game.

By sheer count. But what did most of that consist of?
4th and one
End of half/end of game

Go back to my earlier post that detailed the types of scenarios where Philly went for it. Whole different enchilada.

We weren’t even on the same page in terms of taking risks.
