I thought that team was well on it's way to at least make it to the WS a few years ago. What a shame that the upper management can't get it done.

You've got teams that are elite like the Yankees, Red Sox, Indians, Astros.

You've got some real good teams like the Nationals, Cubs & Dodgers.

You've got some up & comers like the Braves & Phils.

You've got teams that are admittingly rebuilding like the White Sox and Padres.

Then you have teams that don't seem to know what the heck they're doing like the Mets.

Somebody made mention that this was like mid/late 70's Met's team... And yeah, it strikes me like the '77 team that had some starting pitching with Seaver, Koosman and Matlack with Bob Apodaca in the bullpen. And they had a couple offensive parts in Stearns, Mazzilli and Kingman. They then traded Seaver for Pat Zachry, Doug Flynn, Steve Henderson and Dan Norman, and basically gave Kingman away and they continued to tread water for several seasons.

At this point it's easy to imagine the current version of the Mets treading water for several seasons.

I told my dad before the season started that I was worried about the Yankees in the AL.

I also told a co-worker who's a Phils fan that her team was going to start to make a turn this season. She thought I was crazy.

The Phils like the Braves are at least a year ahead of schedule... Maybe even a couple years.

The Yankees have done a remarkable job at rebuilding their farm system. They were in bad shape 4-5 years ago, but they drafted well and cleaned up on the trades of Chapman, Miller and Beltran. At and the same time have ridded themselves of many lousy contracts.

No doubt. The Phils are following the Astros. Trade all of your stars for prospects, tank, draft well and wait.

They're going to be scary very soon..

What could hold back the Phils is that they're in a division with a team like the Nationals who have a few good prospects themselves and even if they lose Harper will still be at least a wild-card contender.

And then you have the Braves who may have better young talent than the Phils.

What the Phils do have is some money to spend. Harper could end up in Philly which would hurt the Nationals and give the Phils another quality bat.

I'm gonna let that slide, Vegas, you calling me Floaty :) Only cuz I don't think you know how much of an insult that is :)

Just got back. I'm a red lobster from that SoCal sun. Made some friends with some Jays fans from Saskatoon. We talked about the Humboldt tragedy, our futile clubs, etc. They were really cool. They kept saying "Let's go Blue Jays" just to rile up the youngster Angels fans kiddos, and it was cute and they were cool for doing that, getting the youngins involved. My son was one of them throwing shade back at them. Sat in front of some very knowledgeable fans and we chatted it up the whole game. Very fun time, even tho Trout is obviously hurt and we lost in ten. Let's see if I can get some pics going here
