I find it amusing too.

From what I can tell, people’s jimmies get ruffled when opinions are stated as facts.
I’ve been waiting for the facts vs opinions thread

the sensitivity is so funny in here. i could care more if someone loves or hates dak, but i don't. It's funny reading the sensitive people response when somebody posts something negative or almost negative of Dak.

more please.

13 picks would actually be close to a career low for Romo in 16 games. I think 9 was his best season. If 13 is daks high water mark, I’m not worried.
Its throws dak is not making, higher degree of difficulty and risk, keep his int. Stats lower, but end up constricting the entire offense....he has to be able to throw deeper between the hashes into a nfl window

This is precisely why he was able to come in and instantly string together wins. He's not a gambler and doesn't play hero ball. Everyone wants a gunslinger until he turns the ball over putting the already weak defense at a disadvantage. He plays smart which is why he's able to win despite not having any qb skills as some here believe.

But he has taken too far, defenders are able to only give token attention to int middle, flood other areas, he has too be at least a threat to force lb to drop out of the Beasley zone

Except that his interception rate is actually inflated by (among other things) the lack of easy throws -- very short passes, especially screen passes. Thirty-one out of 35 other qualifying quarterbacks threw a higher percentage of passes behind the line of scrimmage than Dak did last season, and only one threw a lower percentage of screen passes. He also threw an above-average percentage of passes into tight windows. We don't run a "safe" passing offense.

....and yet they can shut Beasley down by keeping lb shallow, they can bring at least 8 flying into the box against zeke.

We may not run a safe pass scheme , but I'm saying if dak doesn't press the deeper middle of the field more consistently, the d is able to react accordingly.

Now spread the defenders with 4&5 we sets and effective RPO, might fit dak very well. Spreads the same defenders horiz, and maybe keeps teams in the Nickle....big advatg oline and zeke

He's low in deep attempts too averaging 1 per game.

The main driver in his regression last year was at intermediate throws particularly from the 11-20 range where he lost nearly 40 in QB rating from his rookie year.

He similarly underperformed on 2nd and 3rd down.

Giving him more easy throws to Zeke and Austin would help but he either needs to increase his deep attempts or improve his reads and accuracy in the middle of the field. Else he will be fairly called dink and dunk and going what to me would be backward in his progression as a passer.

Oh brother. The Cowboys were a pass first team then and are a run first team now.

You can do better.

Okay. The Cowboys had over 2,100 yds rushing with a 4.5 avg per carry last season (about 200 less than 2014 with Demarco's historical year), a top 10 defense, and still went just 7-9. Romo threw 31-9 in 2014 with a bum back. This excuse that Prescott didn't have help around him is ridiculous. I'm not on the Dak sucks train just so we're clear. I do think he is overhyped, and he has a lot to prove next year. He's a great athlete, with tons of potential. I just hope he has the moxy. If he works his tail off, he can easily be as good as his predecessor. I'm a fan of The Dallas Cowboys. So I hope the kid turns it all around this year.

How many years was Romo in the league during those seasons?
Personally I think it's flat out disrespectful to Romo to even compare the two. The kid hasn't even been potty trained yet. Lol

Edit: I should have used that potty training line as an accuracy pun.

Say something bad about Dak and Romo will get bashed almost immediately

I know. That’s why I’m not the one who compared them.

It gets old seeing people post, comparing Dak after two years performance to Romo once he had been in the league for 10 years and was playing at the highest level of his life.

My observations after going through it 1 time....

- I would guess 85+% were targeted toward Dez.
- Only about 4 or 5 ints were just flat out on Dak. Most of those seemed to happen in the latter part of the season post Atlanta debacle.
- A few happened as a result of being hit as he threw.
- A couple happened by a combo of pressure and Dak anticipating Dez going one way and he turns the other. Eagle int in endzone comes to mind....
- We have a real gem here if this is his "bad" season.
thank you

It goes both ways. You can debate both players first two seasons and those who are still butt hurt Romo retired will bash on Dak comparing his entire career to Daks 2 seasons.

You really need to watch again, much of this is way off. Particularly aspects relating to Dez.

But, there is a lot more to QB performance than the # of INTs thrown.

He does that just fine. Hes got a better stable of receivers now that will actually get open deep. We dont need a gun slinger on a regular basis in this offense. We need a bus driver.

fwiw
2014 was 34 TDs and 9 ints in 15 games (or 38 and 9 including playoffs)

It will be hard to ever top a 25 differential.
But with a rising defense, stud oline, and Zeke, it won't be necessary...imo

All I can say is some of those interceptions were really ugly.
