heres how i see it so far. With Kris manning the CBs. it think they give the DL enough time to get the job done. Before our CBs used to play with a big cushion off the WR. If Kris changes that, our DL will have a few more seconds to get stuff done. THat can make a HUGE difference. Am i overly worried, no I feel Rod can run the DL well. If hes regulated to just the DL and let the over all scheme, we should be fine. Let Kris and Bloom run their squads and dont micro manage them.

I don't know if you were alluding to this or not, but I've had a strong feeling that we're seeing a passing of the torch this year between Marinelli and Kris Richard.

I don't expect some official announcement or anything, but I think that Richard is going to be handling as much, if not more of the defense as Marinelli does. In fact, I think Marinelli prefers focusing on the defensive line rather than calling the entire defense.

It may be nothing more than a gut feeling that I have, but I'll be watching closely to see who ultimately has the biggest influence.

More like we need DP to throw 1,000+ yards a game, every game, win or lose from now till the end of time.

Trying to one up me huh...well I'll raise you we need zeke to have 300 all purpose yards every game.

Overall, I would say the offense has more to prove. Last season we didn't have the roster depth to overcome a new RT, a hot garbage LG, an injured and sometimes missing LT and no legit number one WR. Dak had ups and downs and Elliott was missing.
There needs to be some consistency.
But that would also include one of the best Kickers in the NFL and LBers not missing games.
Injuries, suspensions, poor position depth and a QB that can't win games on his own. Not that many can or do.
Lots of new coaches, so we'll see.

The defense needs to get off the field on 3rd down. 29th in the NFL didn't cut it last year, and won't any year.
I think we will get enough stops next year, the key will be Daks decisions and simple play calling in the red zone = Zeke.

1. The one tech is a confusing thing..Especially when your GM personell is against getting a Nfl calibur one..

BETTER Strong safety play could mitigate a need for a better one tech but that is not the strength of Woods or Heath. Frazier is definitely a better strong safety than Woods or Heath, but his coverage is still a work in progress, but there is no proven depth behind them..I think one or two of the Udfas will make the team or the practice squad, however that will not solidify the safeties this year...Its a hole..And there are some free agents out there besides helping Seattle out of a contract..

3. Out of all the position groups i think the tightends will be a pleasant surprise if they use them properly.

4. IF Sanjay does some of the coaching thing and brings the WR we have along quickly and the team stops playing the wr development game, they will do enough this year to compliment the running game, and make this offense successful..Last season was not the running game the cowboys have..It never developed stable enough, to make decisions that win football games in the third or forth qters..or in the 2nd qtr..

5. THIS team needs to score points in the first half..Not fgs,tds ..Vigorously ..Just because you have a team that can rush the qb it doesnt mean you can fool around to play ball till the third qtr. TREAT every team to smash mouth football and believe you can break the opposing teams defense...

Finish them, with long drives that end in tds. SMOTHER The life out of both sides of the ball with your offense..

PROVE to your offensive line and your defense that you trust them by lining up and running the ball even when the other team knows its coming..And they cant do anything to stop it..

WHEN this happens, The passing game can do anything it wants..
GIVE ALL the receivers the ability to motion, play full route trees and move the trees around every position...

Develop a short pass game and feature it in the normal flow of the game, not just when the other teams defense is trying to blitz you or scheme the offense. THAT way the other team has to plan for it even if you dont use it that game. GET your starting rb involved in it so its a threat no matter who is in the game..

Use The fullback in a more conventional run attack. TEAMS freak out on a well conceived running attack thats dynamic with two backs that can run, block and catch the ball out of the backfield. TEAMS are so worried about the pass they dont have as many strong run stopping lbrs. These types of match ups are an advantage to teams with the personnel the Cowboys now have..

Use The freaking tightends...

6. We signed two guys who can return the ball..Its time before the ignorant Nfl takes that away, to get field position to shorten the distance to the endzone..(Austin and Thompson)

Defensively, This team must find some kind of combination at the one tech..I think Price and Ward probly penciled in but neither has done it consistently and I think ward is a three tech. This team right now has three one techs in Ash and Brice and Daniel Ross, Two three techs in Ward and Collins and Collins may not open the season on the active list. LIKE 12 Dends...lol. Cowboys going to have some players hit the streets after training camp....

The One tech and the Ss or Fs going to bite us, because its Murphy. JUST like Lee getting hurt..Neither Jaylon or Lve or Wilson is prepare to step in for the General..No matter what the Cowboys say so Getting a two one techs out of this bunch is mandatory. THAT would give the Cowboys a shot to keep lee clean. AND take away the Cowboys weakness. UNTIL ITS FIXED its a problem..

I think the core group of corners will develop and explode onto the scene this year..Although im not positive that Woods will take the Fs role by storm i think he will play well enough to get the job done..Whether that comes to haunt us if the team qualifys is unknown. RICHARDS should get the best of what they have..

That’s the key
Turn overs and sacks are great but if you get off the field on 3rd down it is the real key to success

My FEUDIAN MATH equates as: if you were to line up the total number of players from both teams who are facing each other that day ,there probably wouldn't be a dimes worth of difference in 90% of those 106 men,,,so,by acknowledging who the superior game factoring players are would be key, therefore, it's player preparation & planning are of the utmost importance in winning.

I keep hearing keys to season that whine about WR, D1, and S ... or rather a lack of high round picks at those spots.

First off, Gallup is as complete a WR as every drafted by the Cowboys, and may have the best hands. Hurns is as solid a "control WR" as any. Thompson and Ausitin are and

At D1 we'll see what happens, but the scheme run/pass forces a double team on our D1, as long as they aren't pushed around, they're fine Price and Ash will do.

With the press and man skills of our CBs ... SS is basically in the box and FS playing man over, I'd be looking for back ups to Frazier SS and Heath FS, you'll have a very hard time finding better in terms of on field performance.

My concern is TE - as of now Rico would seem the only red zone threat to be considered, and he may not make the team
