I think it was sadder for fans than it was Romo who was paid handsomely having quite a career over achieving for a undrafted QB. He was only sad when he wasn’t provided the opportunity to play.
I disagree.
It was crushing to Romo. The man cried like a newborn after that Green Bay loss.

I loved Romo...I'm trying to know if I loved him enough to watch a documentary on him...
C'mon, don't be a chintzy harbor paymaster, mate!
The $19.99 you spend will put a dime in his pocket!
O, the dissolution of Algiers! He so suffers and sacrifices for us, so. I feel like a Bob Dylan song ... a moment of silence.

Was a really good QB at times; who never really won anything, and gets too glorified in our circles. Outside Cowboy fan circles ask any knowledgable fan "sure, the guy could play some decent QB... but not a GOAT or anything"

You would not know that by talking to our fans about him.
I think he's underrated by outside fans....but overrated by his stans.

They all know he was great but they like to "snicker that he never won anything"

Just like a decent amount of fans around here

It was a shame how this organization treated him in 2016. And a large amount of fans also. Very sad indeed

He was robbed in 2014 and 2016.

He would have brought a championship home with those teams. But especially 2016. That team was awesome and took the league by storm. With the smash mouth. Would had been beautiful to watch Romo with Zeke.

But on the bright side we got to see a rookie break rookie records. Yeah Dak

There was an easier path in 2006. Feel free to blame everyone else but Romo for not moving forward.
Unfortunately Romo couldn't stay healthy down the road. Suggesting he was robbed is a little silly.

Don’t forget that a crippled one-legged Aaron Rodgers shredded our defense all game long.
I will never forget that. Marinelli had the Defense stopping him at one point. Then I am guessing he decided to go prevent. Bend but don’t break.

It came down to a team and many fans who begun to believe Romo must have been part of why we hadn’t had more success.

The first glimpse of a brighter star fueled our blinding desperation to win now and sounder judgement even with signs after we witnessed the difference in a brief exhibition.

Our leadership went against its initial football instincts in favor of the media and public outcry which ultimately placed them in a position which was more favorable to lose with their new star than lose with the old one.

As a result it forced the old star out not providing him an opportunity to prove his wares again. Perhaps it’s a great example of what have you done for me lately?

Despite his team leading career stats and carrying a franchise for an era the lack of post season success left the team with less hope they were leaving much behind.

Instead of going with the best available talent they went with the most popular at the time. It’s a conflict of interest we’ve often seen from our leadership who wears all hats weighing the good of the team versus his personal public perception.

Nice spin, but Romo got run into the ground and couldn't stay healthy.

Until Dak leads our franchise to more success Romo’s legacy will continue to grow and the decision to bench him will continue to be questioned.

After all that’s part of what we do here on a fan forum is play Monday Morning QB.

If we’d won that playoff game with Dak this argument would already be null and void.

News flash. He actually fully recovered and was ready to go

Actually very underappreciated by many of our fans, imo.. And the national narrative was always a bit weird but seemed to be improving.
And I've never once heard anyone seriously say Romo was GOAT.
Never.

And you also have it backwards on "knowledgeable" and/or informed fans (and especially coaches, like Belichick); they tend to be the ones that give him more credit than less.

But he's gone now. We all have our opinions. Those who understand it was a total team game tend to see him better light, I will say that.
But everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I'll check out the documentary, but am looking forward at this point and hoping our current guy (who i also like) helps us move forward with an continuously improving roster.

So basically they were drunk on the Dak Kool Aid.

But I'll respectfully disagree as far as the past failures in the playoffs factoring in.

I think the overwhelming driving force was the ability to claim we got a franchise QB and Franchise RB in the same draft in comparison to Philadelphia who only got a Franchise QB (that they had to mortgage the farm to move up for.) We enjoyed thumbing our noses at them.

A Super Bowl later combined with a putrid performance from the rookie record breaker.

Now all we are left with are delusional fans who break thier necks to make all kinds of excuses for this inadequate QB.

These are the same people who bring up and put down Dez and Romo in order to prop up Dak in every debate.

This kid has thrown some of the worse interceptions I have ever seen in my life. There's times I dont know where the ball is going, could you imagine the poor WR. Who not only has to catch the ball but they have to protect thier bodies. Its violent going over the middle. You dont want to have to reach backwards across your body exposing your ribs.

But if you dont the fan base screams poor Dak

How in the world did Dak make Dez look so bad:huh:

He led the offense to more success than Romo did in his first two seasons. People see what they want, doesn't make them right.

That doesn't mean the staff was confident that he could remain healthy. Otherwise Romo would have kept his job.
