When Dallas plays nickel, they have 4 DL on the field, and take a LB off of it. So between their nickel and base D, they account for nearly 75% of total defensive snaps.

The 1 Tech plays a heck of a lot more than you think. So yeah, having a good 1 Tech is a need.
When they go nickel they don't need a slow 1-T on the field. They can get away with a DE or 3-T as the two DT.

Good for him - I have no expectations but hope he does well because it seems he has put in the effort to get past this.

Inside Jerry's Head:
It's all coming together! They all laughed at my picks of Jaylon and Gregory. But who's laughing now?! Here comes that SB that's all mine! My picks! My coach, that I made! All mine! I am a FOOTBALL GENIUS!

It could happen.

Earl Thomas got a little more likely in my mind. I can see Jerry making a push by signing Earl, and maybe a relatively pricey cap casualty at WR. Of course what we really need is a 1tech and SS.

This day hasn't caused me any issue at all. I'm happy for Gregory that he has been reinstated. Seriously, good for him.

But, the Cowboys owe it to themselves to make him earn everything that he gets, and ensure that if he were to relapse, it doesn't hurt the team, or force them to have released another potential option to keep one that has proven to be less than reliable. That's called smart business.

And your analogy is still a poor one. Sorry if you don't like it, but it is what it is.
I get it...piss in one's cereal if one wishes...

Ensuring that everyone saw this 'side note'. Again, he has to WAIT to put the pads which is complete BS if you as me. The guy has done his time and he's still having to wait until Roger decides that he's done playing games with him all while the women beaters of the league sit out their 2 game suspensions and get reinstated immediately.

Last heard at 255-260, so he's added ~30 lbs, Vinnie

Giggity!

Gregory built his frame over 3 years, and the Cowboys only used up 1 year of rights on him during that process, retaining 3 more years of rights, from 25-27, his youthful prime.

People got all hoohoo over Gregory and Jaylon missing time, but we didn't lose contract years to them in the process, and we're getting the upside of more physically mature players in return for a little delayed gratification.

There are upsides to drafting players who will likely miss some time.

When they go nickel they don't need a slow 1-T on the field. They can get away with a DE or 3-T as the two DT.

And yet the numbers say otherwise. Between McClain and Thornton in 2016, our two 1 Techs, they played nearly 75% of all snaps. In 2015, Nick Hayden, yes Nick freaking Hayden, played 55% of all snaps. He played 56% of all snaps in 2014.

So no, the Cowboys do not play a 1 Tech just on first downs.

*** Didn't include 2017 because it had Collins snap counts really high but he split time at the 3 Tech and then moved to the 1 Tech full time when Paea called it quits.

Goof for him, I'm sure the burden of proof was very high. He must have jumped a lot of hurdles to get back to this point. Hope it sticks.

As far as football, I still am not counting on him for anything.
I think its very very encouraging that he has gone so long without a failed drug test.

As far as on the field, I look at it as a long play. Probably more significant to 2019 then 2018. Im not expecting him to be game ready after 1 game in two years. For 2018 I see him at least starting the season on the back end of our depth chart. Maybe towards the end of the season he can get in on some sub packages

However, he is probably the most talented DE on the roster. He has shown alot of personal growth staying clean. If that extendeds to practice and workout habits the possibility of losing Lawrence may not hurt as much

There are more than one way to skin a cat. Gregory has elite speed rush potential but Taco can still become an elite pass rusher if he can master power and speed to power moves while being a better run defender.
I don't disagree, my man. I am admittedly too amped up. I think Taco has Hardy-like ceiling, whereas Randy has VMiller-like ceiling.

I've been a boob in here in several posts, Fuzzy, my brother

I'm very happy for Randy and very hopeful that he'll make the most of his opportunity.

It's a new start for him and those pulling for him to recover. He's had quite a struggle.

As of right now, it's up to him to work hard to prove to the world that he isn't a failure.

We have a true bend edge now in Randy.

Sky's the limit. Sky's the ABSOLUTE LIMIT

I assume for various reasons that he'll be limited to playing right end in pass rushing situations if he's in shape and good condition. This would allow us to use Crawford and Charlton on run downs (and to spell Lawrence), although I think Crawford needs to be moved back inside with Irving suspended and Collins coming off injury.

With Gregory, we should at least have a three-man end rotation without needing Crawford, and Armstrong, Ealy and Tapper will be trying to make it a four- to five-man rotation.

At tackle, we'd have Crawford, Price, Ward, Datone Jones and Collins.
