In the mid eighties I saw alot of good shows, and managed to get some of my highschool buddies together and we gigged Dallas a bit late 80s till my bros went off and got married on me. Damn facists!

I was on players like Eric Johnson, Steve Morse, Al Dimeola, Larry Carlton, Lee Rittenour, Pat Travers, David Gilmore, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai Yada..Hella time..

ANOTHER funny story then..In 1981 some friends told me about a show I needed to see, so we went and saw..
These guys..

A very young Def Leppard warmed up for them touring under the High and Dry album..There guitar player at the time kind of of a dominative prick..The crowd got a lil rowdy and booed them off the stage coz didnt want to listen to them, the prick, and wanted the greatness of Blackfoot!!Lol.

They came out in the 70's....Bring that to the favorite songs thread! Lol

Just kidding, great friggin' album!

That album has so many songs that are great that are hardly ever mentioned. Everyone knows Them Bones, Down in a Hole, Rooster, and Would.

You don't hear about the songs Dam That River, Rain When I Die, Angry Chair, and Dirt (the song). Those are fantastic songs and in my opinion deserved just as much air play.
That album is loaded. Didn’t know down in a hole was popular though. I’ve only ever heard rooster and would on the radio. Rain when I die is amazing!

Some people define hair metal differently. For me. If it was consider metal, but not aggressive. It was hair metal. stuff like Warrant, Poison, etc That was hair metal and wuss music.

Other consider Motley Crew hair metal and they definitely started moving that direction, but Shout at the Devil and earlier was not hair metal to me. I did like early Def Leppard before they turned into pop-metal.

I laugh when I see people try to classify Dio, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Iron Maiden as hair metal as some places do.

For me, the heavier the better. I don't mean just speed. I mean HEAVY thump and crunch or groove metal. Fast is okay, but it has to have music too it. Not just pure speed.

GROOVE!

We have the same definition of hair metal.

Down in a Hole doesn't get a lot of radio play, at least here in CT....but when I was a bouncer, everyone in the bar knew the song well, and loved it.

Alice in Chains - Had they been more prolific while Layne Staley was alive, they probably would have supplanted Aerosmith and AC/DC as my favorite. (Apparently, I have a thing for bands that start with the letter "A".)
Where does Abba fall in line at?
