I think he was being sarcastic, Night. Rob is a master at deadpan/dry humor and self-deprecation.
Tired of hearing Mets fan oversell Degrom

He is a stud but so is Severino and Judge and Torres and Andujar

Degrom is 7-7 and the Mets are 20 games back with him and Syndaggard

It was blatant sarcasm from him, Night.

I don't know what else to say, I have no dog in this fight. I just know how Rob posts. I'm sure Rob doesn't think he's getting Judge and Severino and Torres and Andujar for a pitcher many think has one foot out the door

Every team has those idiots, Cowboys and Mets are no exception. That statement was in jest due to the Yankees trying to screw over the Wilpons and offer peanuts for our ace.......who just might be needed to make the post-season. DeGrom also might have been the difference between another title or a first round exit.

It is also laughable that you have to use his record to make a point. He leads the league in the important stats, or at least near the top in a few. He is 7-7 because this team absolutely sucks and has no offense.

So he isn't a god that will single handedly lead them to a WS

You will need some runs from the MVP, the co- ROYs and the pitching of the Cy Young candidate

In a vacuum he is a difference maker but not at the expense of losing a huge bat

Night, the comments were total sarcasm. But to think the Yankees can get the best pitcher in baseball right now for the Yankees 3rd rated prospect who isn't even in the top 50 prospects in all of baseball is just as ridiculous.

Wilpons are stupid but they dont want a riot at Citi field either. The Yankees and Mets would never trade do a trade anyway. One of the owners would end up losing in the deal and neither would take that risk .

Marlins pitcher takes out acuna in a game tonight on first pitch of the game. Acuna had hit lead off homeruns in first 3 games of series so pitcher got him. Listening to the Braves announcers they were irate. I dont have a problem with the pitcher hitting him. Not to injure but to make him uncomfortable at the plate. That's baseball. He should have been expecting it. As long as you don't aim for the head or above the shoulders which he did not, the rest is fair game. Baseball has gotten too nice

Are you serious??? The guy threw a 98 MPH fastball directly at him. How in the world can you justify that? Only once in over 2500 pitches has the Marlin pitcher threw that hard, and you're saying "It's part of the game".

That's beyond stupid. I can understand brushing him off the plate, but not throwing directly at him. The guy had no chance to avoid that pitch.

That part of the game has been around for 100 years. He did not throw at his head or neck. Mattingly probably ordered it because the players today dont get it. Brush him back, high and tight, hit him in the butt or back. Whether its 97mph or 85mph, it still hurts. Never with intent to hurt just to get him uncomfortable. I guess you don't remember watching roger Clemons, Bob Gibson, don drysdale, and many others. Its baseball.

I don't remember any of those greats (except Clemens) throwing directly at a hitter; especially if the hitter hadn't shown them up (which Acuna hadn't) on the first pitch of the game. They had more class and had more skill to brush them off the plate. Urena, is a punk. He has a 3-12 record, a 4.74 ERA. Hardly a guy to show who is "boss". My best friend is a Mets' fan and even he said it was a punk move.

Not sure what the Mets have to do with it since he plays for the Marlins

IMO, it was a borderline bush move. Yes, it has always been part of the game but the hitter usually has it coming for one reason or another. I am not sure if these two have a history or not....

I agree Urena is a punk but there is no way he did that on his own. That came straight from Mattingly. I always thought Clemens was a punk because he did not just hit them, he went after their head. I remember watching the Yankees and Mets playing many years ago and telling my wife that Clemons was going to hit Piazza because Piazza had been hammering him. That night, Clemens hit Piazza in the head. Of course the Mets retaliated by throwing at Arod the next game. And of course missing him. Twice. Mets were incompetent then too

The Braves announcers were expecting Aruna to get hit. Anyone that watches teh game knows at some point a hot batter is going to be put on his butt. Three years ago Cespedes came over from detroit and was just crushing the baseball. After doing the same against the Marlins, the Marlins pitcher hit Cespedes with the same kind of pitch that Urena threw. Just missed Cespdes elbow. Cespedes glared at the Marlins pitcher and just walked to 1st base.

Thats baseball.

The paradigm has shifted in baseball......... teams see that prospects can come right in and contribute .... taking PEDs and uppers out of the game has made it a young man's game

No one is giving up 4 top guys for one high-priced star..... Verlander was a salary dump last year...the Cubs giving Torres was desperation for a WS and Chapman..... Machado didn't get a big haul..... Harper didn't an offer

Guys like Torres, Andujar, Severino, Sheffield, Acuna, Soto, Walker Buehler, Nimmo, Kyle Tucker, Vlad II, Eloy Jimenez are the new stars and worth their weight in gold with 6 cheap years

JD Martinez barely got an offer last year and had to settle for 5/105m....... I think Harper and Machado will be surpirsed next year at the lack of 300m+ offers

Total bush league

Bones break on contact and all he did was his job

Acuna just happened to be going for Mattingly's record and was knocked out in the 1st inning.......BS
