Paul Pierce thinks that Anthony Davis will be in Kelly Green or Lakers Gold by Mid Season if Nola aint in the thick of the playoff race. Now, I don't know if that's true or not but for either of those teams, that's a guy who could probably put them over the top.

No way Lakers trade their entire young core and deplete their roster for him.

This would be admitting they can't sign Kawhi basically.
And a really different move than has been suggested.

But again I do think the younger guys eventually get moved as the pressure to win mounts so this may well the best option.
Davis would fit that lineup very well.
Though I am not sure how much offense you want to run through the 4 and 5 position given the players it's a small problem to have.

I don't know about that. I mean, we don't know what it might cost but Davis is probably the best young Center in the League. I would not be surprised to see the Lakers do this, assuming there is any truth to this story.

I don't know that it would be admitting that they couldn't. I mean, I personally would rather have Davis then Leonard so it might just be that the Lakers Value Davis more. I don't know.

Yea, idk about all that lol.
Kawhi is a top 5 NBA player period.
Davis is arguably top 3 at Center. Davis is really good but he's been up there in usage with Harden and LeBron and that would definitely change.
He's also had far fewer playoff experiences much less compared to winning titles or being Finals MVP while slowing LeBron.

All in all as a Lakers fan you'd want to get both guys.
You were always going to need two stars around LeBron to compete for the West much less the Title

That's again why I would have gotten Kawhi via trade and then pursued that 3rd piece.

Ultimately, you either are or are not open to moving young pieces.
So this is either a false rumor or they are moving in a direction to win now.
Can't really do both.

I would rather keep the young players and bring them up but I am not certain that the Lakers would be in that same boat. They really seem to like Davis and I understand that too. I think they would be willing to part with anybody except Ingram. I think they believe that he could be the third piece. I just don't see Nola giving Davis if Ingram isn't in the deal as well. I mean, they could still go the KL direction and keep Ingram. That's still a possibility. I guess we'll see what happens.

Understood.
I'd be all in and think young players are largely fools gold. -- I say this as fan of a team who is going super young.
History has simply dictated that by and large only a few players are truly capable of winning titles as the lead dog and they are seldom young.

Lakers deal would have to beat Boston's so yea likely Ingram required.

I am not sure it makes much sense at this point.
Had you traded for Kawhi then for sure.
Because:
Rondo
KCP
Kawhi
LeBron
Davis plus depth ...
just might win you a title.

NBA promises to remain super top heavy no matter what happens.

If Davis hits the trade market, he is a Celtic. We can outbid the Lakers even if we keep Tatum as an untouchable. If that Grizzlies pick doesnt convey this year, its its likely to become a high lottery pick. If you make a trade in the offseason I think Brown, Kings pick, Grizzlies pick, Clippers pick, Smart is close to getting it done. Lakers cant match that

Good. Price would be too high.

That basically Brown, Zion Williamson, a mid late first and a low lottery pick for a franchise player. Thats a solid package, but for a franchise player like Davis its not to much IMO

The big rub with that is that if everything lines up right, that Grizzlies pick could be unprotected the first after the one and done rule is gone.

I was referring Lakers price to get him would be too high. They'd want Ingram, Kuzma, Ball, Hart, etc.

Celtics and Jamal Crawford have a mutual interest. Would be a nice vet scorer off the bench. Odds are we trade Morris before the deadline to avoid the tax, so a player like Crawford could be needed to add some scoring punch to the bench

Looks like Jimmy Butler is on the trade block and the Cavs are interested. I wonder if they willing to give up Collin Sexton to land Butler
