It's not because I have a nice flat screen TV where I can watch movies. It's not because of video games. I actually much, much prefer seeing a movie in an actual movie theater. I've just been driven so nuts by other movie goers who talk or text through the whole show that it ruins the experience. Hence, I hardly ever go out to the movies anymore. This guy made two videos on this topic, and he's SO spot-on!

A lot of people don’t have any respect for others any more these days, and that’s exactly what this is, a lack of respect. Too many selfish, disrespectful people these days. I’m lucky that I live in Japan and Japanese audiences are absolutely silent during a film.

I agree but even Japanese culture has changed( to the worse) big time from what it used to be.

Nah, you can watch movies online for free nowadays. Theaters are just a waste of money.

I don't think so. I much prefer the experience of seeing a movie in a theater on a big screen if I can manage to do so without someone blabbing or texting throughout the show. I especially love IMAX theaters. I just don't go very often for the reasons cited in that guys' videos. It's too frustrating. I end up paying money to sit there feeling angry.

To each his own. If you prefer to watch movies on a flat screen TV, that's up to you. But I still hope movie theaters don't go the way of the VCR and the 8-track tape. I think anyone who does choose to go out to see a movie in a theater should refrain from talking or being on their phone.

Visiting a Japan is on my bucket list.

I try to only hit the Matinees on a work day while everyone else is away. Other people are a big reason because they act like idiots. You go to a horror film and idiots think they are part of the entertainment by yelling at the screen, talking to everyone in the theatres. Morons so desperate for attention and all I want to do is yell at them "SHUT UP AND SIT DOWN MORON"!!!

I haven't been to a movie in over a year, but when I do I go when the movie is probably on its last weekend during an early Sunday morning matinee. There is usually only a few people and I've been lucky except the occasional texter. It floors me how inconsiderate people are. I fly a lot and I see selfish people on nearly every flight. Annoyed is the polite word I use to describe how I feel when I see it.

The problem is that all of the movie theaters have cut their work forces to the bone. If there was someone actually in the theatre enforcing the laws then the movie goer would not have to be the enforcer and deal with this crap.

Wow.

Our local theatre here in Fredericksburg does not allow cell usage during the movie. Never seen anyone try to break the rule. Not sure what they'd do if they did.

Do movie theaters actually let people use their cells during movies?

I think each theater should have an employee with a taser who is authorized to use it on talkative people and people who use cellphones in the theater during the movie.

I'd have no problem with the movie being interrupted to see such justice!

What’s wrong with all you theater amateurs? You go to movies during “non peak hours.” I do the mornings or weekdays,or a late showing. Freaking great....there’s never a lot of people, and you’ll find me laid out with my junk food and beverage assortment spread across 2-3 seats, with my 3D glasses on having a swell time. Been running that system forever now.

The one in Marble Falls doesn't and they kept true to their warning and ejected a couple of teenage girls for texting with no refund because I asked the manager when I left. He told me they've actually stopped the film and called the cops when people wouldn't leave their seats when being ejected. They don't even give warnings, it's on the screen and states there will be no refund and you will be ejected.

My biggest complaint about going to the theater is I always seem to get the tool sitting behind me that just can't seem to get the last kernel out of the popcorn bag or box or has to rustle in the freakin' candy bag. I actually had a guy behind me several years ago in Dallas that sucked on his straw and kept shaking the ice in the cup. Before I could say anything, the lady behind him said, fairly loudly, "would you PLEASE stop shaking that cup and sucking on that straw"? Not only did most of the people around start laughing but some actually applauded.

Just one more example that too many live in their own little Idaho.

My main reasons for not going to the movies is not only do most of them suck, but I'm not about to support a hypocritical inbred Hollywood actress/actor.

I used to love going to a drive-in called The Aust. Before they put the lights up so you couldn't see the screen from the roadway, I used to pull up and watch a few movies. Of course this place was a drive-in porn theater.
