You don't know that. Pure Speculation. Romo said many times that Dez was nearly always open that you just had to put it in the right spot and let him go get it and he did on that play. Dez then proceeded to go for it all instead of securing the catch and going down.

I can infer it from his past play and established legacy. Not hard to see, he would've made a better play in that situation.

Brady would have thrown for the first. That's what separates a Hall of Famer from a mediocre post-season qb. They didn't execute otherwise, this conversation wouldn't even exist.
Rodgers, Bradshaw, etc, etc would've taken tne one on one to Dez.
Brady is Brady. The lone caved in on tne right side, the ball to Bez mightve even been batted down for all we know. Or it get tipped and picked, or dropped or just incompleted, etc, etc.
Fraction second decision and coach dudes acting like real QBs.
And if you saw the all 22, no way the 1st down was automatic.

Old news anyway.
Mind numbing that anyone would even blame the QB there.

Did he throw a perfect ball to his best receiver, or not?
And the same WR who, every time he was one on one that game he threw to and completed the pass. Including that one.
Oh well, a long time ago at this point.

It should've been a catch because Dez did in fact make a football move.

Uh, no. The going to the ground rule negated all that. That's why Dez' 3rd step didn't save him. Today it would AFTER "going to the ground" taking precedence has been eliminated which is proof that "going to the ground" was king back then.

There was over 4 and a half minutes left, right? Forget Rodgers, half the QBs in the league could have come back. Our defense wasn't that good. But there is always a chance of a strip sack.

There was a chance for a strip sack in 2016 too that would have put us in immediate field goal range if we get the ball but Heath went for the big hit instead of just jabbing at Rodgers' throwing elbow. I don't fault Heath because he's not a defensive end but we got snakebit by the same team in the playoffs twice by not doing little situational head's up things when the moment called for it. I don't blame fans for being super upset over the years.

Roger would for sure have gone to Dez there.
Zero doubt.
Warner, Marino, Rodgers, Roethlisberger, Bradshaw and so many other winners too. The opportunity presents itself, they took it.

Pre Andy Reid Alex Smith..maybe not.
And someone else we currently know and love. They might see the glaring opportunity deep but go short anyway. Hoping upon hope that they can methodically continue to make 1st downs all the way down the field with drive killing sacks, turnovers or penalties.

Rodgers and Brady would have a better play called that didn’t involve a 50/50 jump ball being the best option on 4th and 2. My goodness. Anything to protect a player. Romo could have taken a knee and these guys would defend the decision to do so.

At that point is Dez's career there really wasn't such a thing as a 50/50 jump ball with him, he was that good going up after those. Today it would be even less than a 50/50 ball with Dez but not then

That year the Cowboys completed 55.6% of their passes thrown 21-30 yards down field. They completed 76.3% of the passes thrown 1-10 yards. I'd still rather go with the higher % play needing 2 yards. I'd be interested in knowing what the jump ball % to Dez was that year.

Heath did his job on that play. How about good job to Rodgers for holding onto that ball.

you have the mentality of a typical loser. as has been pointed out virtually every single SB winning QB would have tried the same thing. Your BS about Brady is just that; he goes for the kill shot just as much as anyone.

A kill **** with 4 minutes left and out defense???

Is this the best you guys can come up? Go back to the sidelines, child.

Heath could have done an even better job as could have Dez in 2015. Again, I don't blame either of them but better awareness would have tilted the scales in our favor and massively improved our chances of winning each of those games. Moreso in 2017 than 2015 but now we're just talking about two Ls.

The title is fine unless you mean to change it to "Tony Romo Talks Dez Bryant Non-Catch That Would Be a Catch Today but Wasn't Then."

Simply remove “Non,” Catch *****es, it was a ******* Catch...
