2003. 2007 defense could be had on the back end and despite the 48 sacks, had stretches where they couldn't get to the QB.

Accurate.

The 2007 Cowboys defensive secondary was actually pretty pedestrian.

Sometimes I still marvel that team won as many games as it did.

I'm excited by what I'm seeing with this defense thus far, whether it's too early as yet or not.

Of course, we're certain to know significantly more once December comes than we do now.

If what we have in house at this point in time manages to sustain itself over time, we're fine.

I don't know... but someone still needs slapped in the face for forcing Byron to play safety all this time.

Jaylon seems to have full confidence now. LVE is doing well, and really does well in passing situations.

I wish Byron went for INTs more though, he is a knockdown CB. But still, he keeps progressing at CB the young DB's that wanted to be the No Fly Zone, may actually become that.
Everyone hated him at safety, and I always thought he did well in the red zone etc... But had trouble, with watching the whole field.

You just don't get rid of people that are athletically gifted like him. You find a place for them... They found the place, the place he should have always been.

Awuzie got a break from me in Detroit, because... Stafford, threaded the needle insanely on some of the throws to him. He has to learn some of the sneaky NFL tricks of the trade is all.

Awuzie got to sit and watch Lewis do his job, hopefully he learned something.

What’s total net yards vs yards allowed per game?

Total net yards is the total amount of yards we have allowed through the 1st 6 games. Yards allowed per game is the average amount of yards we have given up per game so far.

Everyone keeps saying 2007. Not saying y’all are wrong, but I didn’t think that defense was anything special. Correct me if I’m wrong.

This defense is playing well and will hopefully get better.

Had a good but not great pass rush and was weak on the back end.

09 defense got shredded by a Brett Favre who was 1 game away from retirement.
They got shredded mainly due to the offense being horrible. The Cowboys did give up 2 touchdowns on the 1st 3 drives, then held the Vikings to a FG after a Romo fumble set them up in the red zone. Then they forced 4 straight punts before giving up another FG after another Romo turnover set the Vikings up in the red zone yet again. Then they gave up 2 more scores in the 4th quarter when the game was all but decided because the offense was getting manhandled.

If the offense showed up at all the defense would have had a better overall performance. Our defense was hung out to dry that day.

The 2003 team won 10 games with Quincy Carter at QB because we had a top 5 defense, still running a 4-3 under Zimmer (Parcells first year).

Didn't take long for BP to blow that up, Zimmer left town, and the next thing you know Greg Ellis looks like a fish out of water trying to play linebacker in a 3-4.

True But we got Ware, Spears, Canty, Burnett, MB3 and Ratliff in 2005. Pretty nice draft.

I just go off of points/series. 2007 was 1.64/series. Right now we're tracking at 1.62/series.

Not that I think either of those units was elite. But both appear to be good enough to win playoff games with. Now, if we can get to the place where we have a playoff-caliber offense again....

Highly doubt that, since the early 90s defenses had reserves that would start at most spots on this defense.
Your right, that 1979 D was awesome, but we did have a great d in the early 90'S as well
