Say, yanks, is the visit like a penance-type trip?

Great museum but Garrett sounds like a kindergarten teacher. These are grown men they can go there or anywhere else they want without it being some ego posturing for Garrett.

We don't need Kumbaya we need a coach who treats them like men especially when one yard can win you a game.

Stuff like team museum trips is shallow regardless of the museum.
Your right, Garrett is an idiot for thinking that a team filled with African Americans (some of whom come from humble beginnings, and may not have been exposed to something like this) could possibly become inspired. Even if it doesn’t reflect on the the field, someone could be motivated to do good charitable work off the field....

If they win, it will probably be fun for them. If they lose, you would think they would want to get out of town as quick as possible. At least I would.

Yes. We lost. I no longer care about celebrating the accomplishments of my people who overcame so much more than a loss to a Jay Gruden coached team.

I applaud the perspective you add.

I do not see what the big deal is.

For those who have an issue with them taking the team on a tour of anything, that is quite common with all NFL teams as teams do things like this every year. The Cowboys have visited many different locations together over the years including the 9/11 Memorial Museum and no one had any issues with that.

For those who have an issue with them visiting an african-american museum, have you ever stopped to look at most of the players you are rooting for each week? Most are african-americans and most of their non-african-american teammates view them as brothers and/or teammates rather than another race.

Everyone who is upset about this needs to get over it.

And fair warning ..

Anyone who makes political, racist (including BOTH ways), etc. comments here can expect to have their accounts suspended.

that whole area is littered with amazing displays of history. really wish I'd had the time to spend a day going through it all (a day probably wouldn't even be enough would it?)

flew into D.C. for a couple of days for work a few months ago but it was pretty much all work

by the way, it only just hit me how far north I was when I was seeing signs for freaking Baltimore on the road (I live in Dallas and sometimes forget about the geography of the outer realms :) )

So you bring up politics and race then threaten to ban people IF they do (psst I didn't)?

Sounds like you just want to shut down this discussion in general so just do that

My point. We have a social worker/school teacher/guidance counselor for a football coach.

Garrett should actually choose one of those professions

Key difference - champions.

Let Garrett focus on that instead of copying the style of winners while ignoring the substance

Making an announcement reminding people that political, racist, etc. comments are against the rules is not "bringing up politics".

The reason I posted my warning is because I deleted several posts that had political comments and racial overtones in them. My post was a response and warning to those users and users who plan to post in this thread that we have rules here that must be followed.

As for shutting this thread down, I have no intention of doing that as there is nothing wrong with it.

You are very mistaken if you think Garrett scheduled this or any of the Cowboys tours. The Dallas Cowboys have departments of people who schedule these trips well in advance of when they happen.

I'm not a Garrett fan at all and have been outspoken about it, but acting like a few hours to a museum during a bye week is going to make any difference in how this team performs in games is ridiculous.
