My point. We have a social worker/school teacher/guidance counselor for a football coach.

Garrett should actually choose one of those professions
What about taking a team to a museum makes u think of social worker or guidance counselor? To me it seems he’s looking for away to light a fire under them. I hate Garrett as much as the next guy but I won’t fault him for something that’s not there.

Its better than a 'field trip' to a nightclub or a Giants style 'boat trip'. Some great museums in DC - all worth visiting.

Absolutely. It is educational and fans should want the smartest players they can get. Maybe it can lead to less stupid mental errors like certain running backs running passing routes out of bounds without being touched.

They should not be called America’s Team anymore!

They are on prime time television too much!!

He wears his cap backwards!!!

Add ‘They should not go to a museum’ to the never ending list of nonsensical complaining. I mean, who complains about going to a museum—a Smithsonian museum at that?

A: Humans

PS: Personal complaints about Rowdy the Mascot are exempt from the list. :) Rowdy is evil!:p

Well they are on a bye week after the game so they should hang around. I’m sure they’ll probably go to some other museums too (Native American, Holocaust, News, Spy, etc). I would like to take the boys down there and maybe meet some guys.

I do not see what the big deal is.

For those who have an issue with them taking the team on a tour of anything, that is quite common with all NFL teams as teams do things like this every year. The Cowboys have visited many different locations together over the years including the 9/11 Memorial Museum and no one had any issues with that.

For those who have an issue with them visiting an african-american museum, have you ever stopped to look at most of the players you are rooting for each week? Most are african-americans and most of their non-african-american teammates view them as brothers and/or teammates rather than another race.

Everyone who is upset about this needs to get over it.

And fair warning ..

Anyone who makes political, racist (including BOTH ways), etc. comments here can expect to have their accounts suspended.
Not sure why this is even a post, why would anyone be upset about going to a museum, education and history are the fabric of the world, there are museums on just about every subject in history or science and everyone who visits one of them comes away richer for the experience. Right with you up to paragraph 2 which is not needed.

Because I deleted several posts of people complaining about it for political/racial reasons.

I know some members have a knack of 'not knowing' the site rules (even though Rules is listed at the top of each webpage) but here is an another umpteenth reminder posted in a long line of countless threads:

Site rule #6 - You will not post religious discussions or comments

I'm sure it will be very educational.
I would hit the Smithsonian while i was there too.
I am pretty sure this branch is part of that overall network, right? there are several "Smithsonian" museums (e.g., natural history, aerospace, art, etc.) in that area, of which the AA Museum is a part...that's my understanding at least.

IMO, in the aftermath of the neal or not thing the NFL owners need to show more awareness on the subject of afro-america,

most stereotypes, and resulting thinking errors, come from not knowing the truth - a trip to a museum which speaks to the subject helps the effort
