If we had kept him we might have lost two more games.

If this board was GM, we’d have tanked the season, we wouldn’t have Cooper, we’d still have Bailey, and... worse.

Time to admit Jerry has finally figured this thing out? *ducks*

I am at a total loss for words at his demise. I get an injury causing a little slump but I cannot fathom that he hasn’t been able to fix whatever his issue was. I feel horrible for him. Even though he was a kicker, he was one of may favorite Cowboys.

He has gotten the small things right this season. He’s totally whiffing on what matters most HC and QB

GB Packers Crosby gagged on a pitch fork and missed a game-tying kick with no time left. Kickers are a strange breed. I forgot who the coach was but he said he doesn't ever talk to his kicker. Nothing. Not one word.

I remember when people here claimed it was because he rushed back.

Mentally he’s gone

Maybe the injury changed his motion permanently. Golfers deal with that over time too.

I really liked him, but at some point injuries to kickers are the main demise. Shame to see it. Cowboys assessed it correctly. Doesn't mean he can't be appreciated for what he did while he was here.

mike Tyson was never the same after buster douglas. Rhonda rousey never the same after holly holms. chris Weidman never the same after luke rockhold. rockhold never the same after bisping. once the magical air of invincibility is taken away, it seldom returns. all in his head.

Kicking FG's is in many ways similar to a golf swing. There are mechanics that require muscles to work in perfect concert and sequence with each other. One bad muscle group can throw the whole thing off..............and thats not even factoring in the psychology.

I've learned to realize the Cowboys know when to dump their former reliable kickers/punters.
McBriar, Bailey etc. Maher may not be the long term answer(?) but at least they knew that Bailey was shot for this year at least.

But Bas Rutten was always Bas Rutten

The groin injury is serious. I had one a few years ago...granted at 42 years old...i still feel it like it just happened if I move a certain way. I can't imagine how it would feel trying to pull my leg through to kick a ball..

I think the Cowboys knew this...I think they also probably see a change in his motion as a result of the injury to mitigate it. I can't confirm that but I wouldn't be surprised.

No, Jerry has relinquished some control, if he was still in control as much as he used to be we'd likely still have Bailey...

People already want to tank next season for a QB that seems overrated to me. It's why fans aren't in charge
