Can someone explain the Kris Richard infatuation to me?

Our D is playing well, but it’s not like we’re doing anything out of the ordinary in terms of scheme. We don’t blitz a ton because we get great pressure with our DL. Why is Richard getting all of the credit for that? Just because he’s the loud, emotional guy? It’s still Marinelli’s defense.

If there’s something I’m missing, I’m all ears. I don’t get it.

I'm tired of you hating on this team.

I'd be willing to give him a shot as a head coach but I have no idea what he'd do with it. How does he handle the whole team? What's he going to do on offense? Who is his guy?

Richard is very much a roll of the dice. To suggest hiring him means a SB is soon is ridiculous.

Knowing our luck, he saves Garrett's job and then gets made head coach elsewhere

My guess is because a lot of the guys in the secondary we thought were turds are playing much better this season.

This is the same guy that took later round picks with Sherman and Chancellor and one 1st rounder in Earl Thomas and coached the legion of boom. He came here and is doing the same thing.

Marinelli got this defense punching in above its talent, but it never looked like this. This defense actually can close out games as opposed to letting qbs score a free touchdown before half time or the end of the game. Byron Jones went from a bust to arguably the best corner in the league. Brown went from having a down year and looking mediocre to looking excellent.

We held one of, if not THE hottest offense and one of the greatest qbs in the game to historic lows. Painting Richard as some guy who just yells and luckily came up on a bunch of talent is inaccurate.

Richard is doing a great job with this defense. His stamp is all over it. We have seen more mixed coverages this year, and definitely more blitzes. The Anthony Brown blitz last week completely changed that game.

But if we’re looking for a new head coach, what this team needs is an offense innovator. I actually like our style of offense, but we at least need someone who can put in some wrinkles and move the ball more consistently.

As just about everyone else said, the most likely outcome is that Garrett is back and Richard is our DC next year.

Clearly, Kris Richard is making a name for himself. If we as fans are noticing, I assure you NFL teams will do so too. The 'Boys must keep Richard on the team. They shouldn't let him walk after he's played such an important role in the performance of one of the best defenses in the NFL today.

If the 'Boys are to keep him though, leaving him at his current job will surely not be enough. We're talking about a guy who'll be getting a lot of phone calls once the season is over. Some of those calls will probably be for defensive coordinator openings and some might be about head coach openings.

Jerry hit the ball out of the park by acquiring Richard. Let's see if he'll announce the "big splash" by hiring Richard as the new HC at the end of the season. If so, this team will be going to the SB very soon.
Well we can only hope this happens, Jerry might throw a lot of money at him to just be DC for his puppet coach though.

Lol. Jerry's even turned Cowboys Nation into puppets because that's all we ever think/know he'll do. I feel strong about Garrett not being the HC after this season.

Richard turned our young D around. In the 5+ years Marinelli had this D, it NEVER looked this good let alone great. And most football fans know having s great D wins SB's.

Jerry needs to keep Richard or another team team will snag him . Jerry hit a HR grabbing him from Seattle. Dont tell him that lol.

That’s what Clapper fans do to discredit that man. Act like he yells all game

Richard could easily jump to HC like Tomlin did.
Not really. Some thought he’d succeed and take over after Parcells retired. I was confused as to why JJ didn’t pay Sean as the highest paid OC by outbidding New Orleans and then promoting him later. There’s no salary cap on coaching. That’s what confused and frustrated me.

The Rooney Rule is a real thing and its bad optics for the league to have so few AA coaches. I think Richard didn't get enough credit for Seattle's success on defense b/c Pete Carrol is a defensive coach. But now that Richard is out Carrol's shadow and proved himself this year with his impact on the Dallas defense, I'd be shocked if he was overlooked again. DC is his floor next year but he could make the jump to HC. A team like GB with a lot of young talented secondary players and a seasoned QB who doesn't need mentoring might be a good fit.

There are many guys with more experience out there. Many with HC experience at college level
I don’t know how teams see him but I will say they will have the option of their choice. GB has a QB for the next few years and is a well respected organization

Well, the coaching jobs tend to go to the guys with the hot hands. I hope he stays in Dallas.

Some coordinators just don't cut it as HC. The list of examples is a mile long. Let another team experiment first.

Richard was a great hire. And unfortunately, he will most likely be a HC for another NFL team next season. Jerry doesn’t hire HCs based on who helps us win. He hires them based on how they make him feel. He wants a HC that makes him feel comfortable to play with his toy.

So, unless the bottom falls out the next four weeks, Garrett remains as HC and Richard will be scooped up by another team as its HC. I can’t see Richard being the DC here when he could be a HC somewhere else. He’s already been a DC in Seattle.
