This thread i will tell you everything you need to know about people on this board....

Not going to lie... I doubted it would work, but not because of Amari, I doubted it would work because of Dak... I always like Amari. But, to be fair... at that point of this season (when the trade was made), we were still watching Dak reruns from last season. I think many of us were hoping that 1st rounder was a QB lol.

So let's just keep hoping for the defense to hold up, keeping the opposing teams score low, and a few good passes per game, and no more friggin fumbles.

This.

By the end of this year Amari will have as many 1,000 yard seasons and as many pro bowls as Dez all while having barely half as many games played and all while having an inferior QB throwing him the ball.....

Compared to Romo's 1st 3 years as a starter, Romo was reckless with his ints too.

Amari is approaching where Dez was at his peak.

Dez has to be catered to for him to do what he did. He needs a specific QB who can throw really the only balls he can make a play on. Cooper came in immediately and propped up our young QB. That is what a real #1 does. They make their QB look better. Dez was a product of Romo. Like Miles Austin and Luarent Robinson. Romo got a lot of guys big paydays. I'll give him that. And Romo even talked about how long it and grueling it was for him and Dez to get on the same page. Cooper is much better than Dez in almost every metric.

Say what you want about Dez, the man bled blue and silver. Sure, he was never a great route runner and age caught up with him as well as losing focus, but before that he was a serious threat. If I was offered the choice of Dez in his prime and Amari in his prime, I'd take Amari, but Dez was no slouch. Part of his problem was the system he was in. Linehan didn't know how to use him and he didn't have a WR coach that could get through to him.

There is no need to build one up by bashing the other. I hope that by the end of his career, Amari will bleed blue and silver like other great Cowboy WR's. He seems to love it here already.

Got to say the argument is pointless. Dez did a lot for this franchise. Romo was the right QB for a man like Dez..... Sadly so is the QB for NE, NO, GB, LAC, and most likely Pitt. A great QB can do the back shoulder fade and throw a WR open rather it be high and contested or to the outside shoulder. The argument should rather be Dak has that ability or not to throw open a Dez Byrant. If not you move on and get a WR that can run routes to get open to where the QB feels comfortable to throw to the WR, which is Amari Cooper.

Either way there should be no disrespect. You have to play to your current QB's skill set. While Romo understood how to work with Dez and set franchise records with him, Romo is not Dak.... Dak works better with a true route runner and it shows.... To each their own I say.... Either way, stop dissing a man's flaws because he does not fit a scheme..... Maybe it was age, maybe it was poor route running, hell, maybe it was a different QB throwing the ball with less confidence. Either way, it is apples to oranges. Only thing we can agree on is Dak to Dez was not working and we made the change. The change was losing Dez. Only time will tell if the decision was right.

Cowboys current draft position is #24 in the first round. That Amari pick looking better and better.

That's Taco Charlton territory.

I'll bet Dez is sick, watching Amari catching all those TD passes and seeing what a real number one receiver does.
Really?.....the rest of us are looking at an inaccurate QB. Lenscrafter can help you see that too. Kudos to Amari. Taco who?

The Cowboys had a 2nd round grade on Taco. If this draft pick ends up in the high 20's, there's a good chance you are taking a player that doesn't have a 1st round on your board.

Cant we just leave Dez alone, he was a great Cowboy for a long time who holds lots of Dallas records...

Back to the subject....Amari is worth three 1st round picks!

Me and maybe 5 other posters were saying it was a great trade......but than again im always right!..haha

So we were wrong about an inconsistent player with drop problems? Ok? That’s like calling people dumb for questioning Randy Moss from Oakland. Amari hasn’t looked like he did this year since 2016 and he had a supposedly better qb than Dak. If we want to tell the full story. Don’t come in here acting like we didn’t have valid reasons to doubt the trade

I am glad Dak found a WR counterpart that compliments his game, still early though time will tell, but they are off to a great start. That being said i dont understand the Dez hate, we have all seen Dez do ridiculously amazing things on the football field, then a limited QB comes in that can't utilize his strengths and all of a sudden he sucks? Come on, we have moved on . But please lets not compare the franchise touchdown leader to a WR that hasn't even played a full a season.

Completely agree. In praising Cooper, there is no need to be critical of Dez.

I do feel the FO deserve a massive pat on the back for correctly identifying that it was time to move on from Dez and also in recognising what Cooper could be. Ditto switching from Bailey to Maher.

It’s one thing to “doubt the trade”, but it’s another thing entirely when “fans” immediately bash the move, dog the front office, and basically dump all over the team for making the trade before the kid even plays a single snap for us. Not saying that’s what YOU did, but there were plenty of posters here guilty of that. And they were dead wrong, and at the time using it as just another reason to trash the team, while acting like they know everything.

I have not been a huge dak guy but I will say this it takes a guy with something to be mentally tough to have three quarters like dak had sunday and then comeback with a fouth quarter and over time like he did that is hard to overlook makes me want to see more now for sure if this offense can come together and stay healthy look out in the playoffs because they now have something on offense they didn't have which Is speed and youth

Let’s not forget, there isn’t a ton of film yet on Cooper in this offense. There’s no guarantee that defenses won’t figure out how to take AC away from Dak like they did with Beasley late in 2016. People worry so much about being right / wrong that they make constant knee jerk reactions based on a small sample size of games. I hope Cooper continues to produce but I understand the NFL well enough to know that there’s an ebb and flow to this stuff as teams experiment trying to find that magic bullet.

amazing the amount of people hating on Dez now that he's gone. Now all of a sudden he was never a #1? smh. How many of you would've worn your fingers out defending Dez 4 years ago on this very board? microwave society for real.
