Seems like you're more than 4% responsible when getting in a car with a drunk.

So, how does Brent come up with 12 million dollars?

Says he's a scouting intern.

I'm not a fan of lawsuits against clubs/places that serve alcohol.

Especially if you're not wearing a seat belt and that becomes one of the primary reasons for your injuries. I would put much less fault on the club unless they knowingly served someone that was visibly drunk.

How does civil adjudication come up these ridiculous awards?

I don't know if this varies from state to state, it probably does. But I know in some states you can pretty much use any criteria you want. Award any amount over any amount of time. Completely up to those hearing the case.

Tragedy sure but not sure how they can blame others with huge monetary proceedings like this.
4% responsible? Did they calculate that based on his drunkenness plus lack of seatbelt?
Why didn’t they sue Mercedes Benz also? Mercedes probably should’ve have mandatory breathalyzers and automatic seatbelts and steering.
I’ll see you guys later, going to find some super hot coffee to toss in my lap.
