It makes no sense. Dak is cheap and people want to waste 20 million on quarterbacks worse than him or the same caliber. It’s just moronic.

Dont need to waste 20m on another QB. Just get Fitzmagic or someone similar for 3.5m.

I dont want to waste 20m on Dak.

Granted, the Cowboys organization loves Dak for some reason, so this discussion might be all-for-naught. But contrary to what the "we can't get anyone better than Dak right now" crowd says, there might be a few options, if the Cowboys wanted to explore them.

Here's a list of potential free agent QBs this offseason:

> Teddy Bridgewater -- catastrophic injury is completely behind him now, and he's only 26. Showed flashes in the 2018 preseason. There will probably be a big market for him.

> Nick Foles -- Slated to make $20 million next year, so the Eagles will have to let him go.

> Joe Flacco -- Looks pretty evident that the Ravens are ready to hand the reigns to Jackson. Doubt they'll keep Flacco as their backup

> Jameis Winston -- Pretty much a headcase, but he's 25 and would come relatively cheap.

> Derek Carr -- was playing at an MVP level 2 years ago before getting hurt. Gruden is cleaning house, so may Carr may be purged also.

> Ryan Tannehill -- He'll probably be retained by the Dolphins since they Osweiler is their only other legit QB with experience. But Tannehill has proven he can't lead the Dolphins anywhere, so they may cut bait.

> Josh McCown -- old but reliable. Would he be a good stop gap?

> Brock Osweiler -- has played better with the Dolphins than he did with the Texans or Browns. And he's still only 28.

> Tyrod Taylor -- he's a good leader and has had moderate levels of success. And he's only 29.

> Ryan Fitzpatrick -- Fitzmagic in Big D for a year or two?

Who would you be intrigued by? I'd take 4-5 of these guys over Dak right now.
That all looks good.

But you know us in FA.

We wait to see who remains after the 1st month.

The best will be gone.

But there are some interesting names there.

DAK will need to completely flame out before this happens.

2 games left.

Still time for him to sink his Dallas career.

Kaepernick. He's got a couple NFCC Games under his belt.
It's not worth the circus that would come along with him. He's not all that different from Dak, he had the benefit of Harbaugh coaching him during their SB run, and as soon as Harbaugh left he sucked.

Fitz and Foles as 1 and 2 qbs here. Battling it out in training camp and preseason while we prepare to draft a qb.

My dream scenario is to trade Dak for Mahommes straight up. Yeah dawg

Depends on where you view the redzone problem. IMO 70% of the redzone problems are on Dak and his inability to make contested throws in shorter windows, he can't throw a fade to save his life either. 20% are execution by the offense, and 10% are bad play calls. I can't stand the Jumbo set, terrible philosophy.

OK, then explain the team's much better redzone performance in 2016 and 2017 when they were 5th & 7th in the NFL... With the same QB.

Someone pull the stats on yards per run inside the red zone. It’s equally on the o line. How many rushing tds does zeke have this year? Zeke must suck all of a sudden?

If the defense isn't afraid of a passing TD, makes it much easier to stop the run. Like I said though a big part of that is Jumbo set which basically telegraphs the run like no other set. I would much rather line up in 3 wide with a TE and run the ball. Yes, even on the goal line. I would much rather see Zeke against a 185 lb CB than I would a 260lb linebacker or lineman.

Just because an offensive line is struggling in pass protection doesn't mean they can't run block. Again, I think some of Zekes lack of production in the Red Zone has to do with defensive alignments not worrying about a pass.

Everyone that thinks it's 90% playcalling, have you ever stopped to consider that the playbook might be limited by a QB who can't throw a fade, doesn't handle pressure well, can't read a defense and is too risk averse to throw into tight windows? The Redzone IMO is magnifying the deficiencies.

And before someone brings up well in 2016 he was fine. Teams still weren't selling out to stop Zeke either, plus you had the best line in football. And the Offensive line argument only fuels my point, he needs the best Oline in football with the best running back to succeed?

Bridgewater and Foles stand out as the most upside potential to me. I just don't think the front office will pull the trigger. They're still bought in on getting one more year out of a 600K backup QB.

1 guy on that list I'd prefer over Dak and that is Bridgewater who will command crazy dollars.

Carr with a better OL and Cooper did nothing the past 2 years. So no thanks.

4-5 are simply back ups. Taylor, Osweiler. McCown, Fitzpatrick
3-4 are low end starters with less upside, leadership and value than Dak. Flacco, Carr, Foles, Tannehill

Winston is a still raw talent with zero leadership skills and doesn't seem to be a very good dude.

Accuracy does t improve that much in the pros. You either come in with it or you don’t.

And Cam Newton is a great example of that. The year they won the Super Bowl it looked like he had turned it around and beat that old adage. In retrospect though he just had a season where everything fell into place. Every year since then he has regressed to what he always was, inaccurate.

I know because I told my buddies when he came into the draft and I quote "Sure he's a physical freak who can run and has a cannon for an arm, he's too inaccurate though and you can't teach accuracy" So you can imagine the grief I got when he wont the superbowl and had a great year in terms of TD to interceptions. As you know though the biggest difference between him and Dak is the ability to get the ball downfield and willingness to wing it.

THE only way I'd be happy with a new gun slinger is if there were also changes at OC and QB coach. Doing anything else without swapping out those two knuckle heads is just rearranging deck chairs on the titanic.
