All 8 Playoff Team's True Records?

A lot of teams spend the first half of the year breaking in new schemes, new players and then re-calibrating. Some teams get decimated by injuries. The Eagles and Ravens didn't get rolling until after changes at quarterback.

I would argue that a team's record in the second half of the season is perhaps a better way to measure that team as they enter the playoffs.

Now obviously strength of schedule can cloud things. But anyway. Here it is:

NFC
Bears, 7-1
Cowboys, 7-1
Saints, 6-2
*
Seahawks, 6-2
Eagles, 5-3
Rams, 5-3

AFC
Colts, 7-1
Ravens, 6-2
Texans, 6-2
Chargers, 6-2
Chiefs, 5-3
Patriots, 5-3

*Saints benched most starters in final game loss
Never thought to look at it that way. Interesting perspective.

I agree, there would be exceptions, but as a rule that is a good way to look at it.
funny thing is cowboys bears and colts are the best teams going into the playoffs...... hmmmmm

I think so, but I’ll also go back to my caveat: strength of schedule. 8 games gives us less total data.

It’s interesting to look at who beat who in the last stretch of the season.

-In the last 9 games of their season the Eagles were able to beat everybody EXCEPT Dallas (twice) and New Orleans

-In the past 8 games we beat everyone EXCEPT the Colts, though I think the Boys were in exhale/letdown mode in that game.

-In the past 11 games the Colts beat everyone EXCEPT the Jags, where they got shut out. Pattern shattered.

As we homers like to say: it’s a long season. Fans who freak out early don’t know what they’re freaking out about.

Those people were right 67% of the time.

You were right 33%.

Nope. Because I never predicted an outcome. Only related the fact that it was too early to know.

They were wrong even in the seasons where we were eliminated.

From a QB standpoint:

Been-There-Done-That:
Wilson
Brady
Brees
Foles

Young Guns:
Prescott
Mahomes
Watson
Trubisky
Goff
Jackson

Never-Quite-Got There Yet
Rivers
Luck

Dak and Goff should be in the last category. They both have playoff experience and the others don't.

Nah... Both played two previous seasons and had just one previous playoff game.

Dont like this line of thinking at all. Teams could have had an easier schedule in the second half and vice-versa. I also think its loser talk to disregard an entire half of a season to make your recond look prettier.

Brees is an MVP candidate with a Super Bowl win and SB MVP in his belt.

Trubisky seems like the weakest QB of the bunch, Goff the one most likely to choke and Foles the one most likely to fall back to earth if he mis-places his rabbit’s foot.

Foles is an enigma. I know he's been cleared and has played but injured ribs/chest might be iffy. Sudfield had to relieve him in the past two games. However he's playing for a contract next year.

The Eagles winning could be a good thing. It would put us in L.A. instead of N.O.

That is if we take care of our own business.

Yeah, no thanks the way the whooped our buts. Give me the Patriots.
Playoffs and Superbowl a different story. Not only that but Dallas didn't played inspired at all. Im willing to bet anything you want that the colts wouldn't do the same if Dallas meets them in the Superbowl.

I think Philly loses on the road to that Bears D... tough draw for them— but that’s what happens for the 6 seed

If they somehow pull off the upset and we beat the Hawks... going to LAR would be a great draw for us.

Ultimately— the road to the SB goes through NO. Tough place to play in Jan for sure— but a good running game and a great defense travel well.

NFC
-Cowboys have the best running back
-Bears have the best defense
-Eagles are defending champs w/belief
-Seahawks have most resourceful, playoff experienced QB
-Rams have NFL’s best defensive player and an offense that can post 50
-Saints have best record, home field and a dome
Saints also have the best QB and an offense that can post 50.

I can see the chiefs, eagles and of course Seahawks getting bumped.

the refs control the outcomes of these playoff games...lets be honest. If the refs let both teams Saturday night just play ball and don't get flag happy, we win. If the refs get nitpicky, we will have 2 opponents. The refs in these playoff games don't get the attention they warrant. Its almost like "fixing" the outcome.
