I don’t really care if Richard stays or goes

I can’t let this pass.

Garrett is in his 9th year so using the inexperienced excuse is a real reach. And it’s a stretch to say he gets better each year. His career is basically a roller coaster.

Players respecting and playing for you is great but here have been a lot of coaches who weren’t very good but players loved them. It can’t be the biggest factor in whether a coach is good or not.

Like I said, I’m in the minority and it’s just my opinion. I didn’t say he was inexperienced now, I said he was inexperienced when he was hired and has improved every year. If you want to have a reasonable conversation, then read the rest...

I realize it’s easy to crap on Garrett and most do on this site. It’s low hanging fruit in my opinion. Garrett has a career 77-59 record which dosent make my case, I get it. But he also has sent our Boys to the playoffs 3 of the past 5 seasons. Parcells used to say it takes roughly three seasons for a HC to fully implement his philosophy.. so take out Garrett’s first three full seasons when he went 8-8 each year after taking over an older and undisciplined team. The last five seasons, Garrett is 48-32, 3 postseason entry’s, and that includes the year Romo went down and The FO had no answers at Back up QB. We all know, if Romo had been healthy, we more than likely make the playoffs that year also. This season was his best year as HC. Most players would have ‘checked out’ after starting the season 3-5 and seemily nothing to play for. But as usual, Garrett will get no credit keeping his players engaged and staying the course to finish the season as Division champs at 10-6. I’m not trying to convince you or anybody else.. I just see it differently. So, it’s up to you to let it pass.

Sadly, the white owners continue to make a farce of the Rooney rule. I’m afraid mst of the interest in Richard is partly due diligence and partly getting the minority interview out of the way. As a defensive guy, it’s unlikely that the teams with young QBs who need development are going to go with him. Most are more likely looking for an offensive guy who will tailor the offense to their QB investment.

Jerry will make it more attractive for Richard to hang around and build an even greater resume as asst. head coach so he will have his choice of jobs rather than going to a dumpster fire.

How is this a farce?

Richard isn't the only person of color interviewing with the teams he is linked to. Jets interviewed Bienamy, Fins are talking to Flores, and the Bucs have talked with Bienamy and George Edwards. These guys all worked as coordinators under great coaches. As did Richard in Seattle.

These teams already complied with Rooney. Is it that hard to believe a person of color is being interviewed because of the quality of their work?

Yep they took out the anointing oils real fast with Kris....some here want him asap to become HC now!
Remember Mike Singletary....lots of passion lots of screaming...but where did that get the Niners?
True... Food for thought. Props.

None of us are.
Then why post like you're privy to all of it?

He ain't no Bill Cowher, nothing more than a motivator .

Richard has changed the secondary. Period.

One can literally see that.

He built our secondary up but is he working with our d-line and linebackers? Pretty sure hes not calling more plays than Marinelli. Sucks that everyone wants to give him all the credit when hes not even the defensive coordinator. Marinelli gets no credit right? Lmao

Lots of people slobbering over a guy that isn’t even the DC of a defense that was about the same as last year. Why? Because he has “passion” I guess. I know he’ll get interviews but what he has shown besides “passion” that make people think he’ll be a good HC? “Passion” lasts about a week so hopefully he has more to offer.

He is also the Defensive Play Caller ........ that has been much improved this year ......

You should think or research before you post.

I don't necessarily buy he is an elite defensive guy either. The Seattle system spawned Gus Bradley and Dan Quinn also. Marquand Manuel got canned. Todd Wash might not keep his job. I do think he counterbalances Marinelli well though.

Our defense has developed, but I don’t necessarily credit Richard with much of it.
LVE being drafted and the continued recovery of Jaylon were big. Our secondary is better, but Byron Jones was moving to corner whether Richard was here or not. Chip and the rest of the sophomores were going to be better in their second year, but I don’t see some obsurd development from any of them that I wouldn’t have expected from 2nd and 3rd year guys.
Would love Richard to stay, but I won’t lose sleep if he does.

I dont care either... coaching in the NFL is vastly OVERRATED. I know Andy Reid is now a guru... but how many SB titles he have? Great Belichek did what in Cleveland? Great Saban did what in the NFL?

Name me a truly great NFL coach, and it is very likely that "Great," coach had a HOF QB attached to his *** most of his career.
All you need to do is look to the number of gurus that get hired each year, we hear their Rah Rah speech, and 3 years later they are booted. 25% canned this year, probbaly 25% last year.

That same ‘dude’ already has three HC interviews lined up and the season isn’t over yet..

Think what you want ab the guy, but very good coaches get fired all the time(for a variety of reasons). Nick Saban seems to be doing just fine. Betcha the Buckeyes wish they hadn’t fired thier assistant..

Can you say ROONEY RULE

THANK YOU. I cant believe after the job he has done year 1 , that ANYONE would even question Richard and what he has meant to us. We need to retain this cat at all costs. HE IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF THESE YOUNG DB'S growth.
What exactly has he done? WE drafted a tackling machine to play LB with Smith who is now fully recovered. You giving him credit for our LB play? Our pass rush was ready to take the neck step also, before he got here.. and my guess is our pass rush will be top 3 in the NFL next season... regardless if we have Richardson.

WE moved Jones to Corner which helped immensely, and the rest of our DBs that are damn young got another year under their belt... so again tell me what has he done EXACTLY?

Haven't seen not one replacement nominee for Richard thru all the discrediting of his impact. Byron Jones would still be a FS...they didn't know what to do with him. It took a "Real" DB coach to get things right back there.

If Richard is gone cool, but go get somebody who can coach up all this talent, and not just hold a job b/c of the talent.
