It's a current story, using vintage video.
Correct

The narration just incorrectly identified the Cowboys in 1971 as America’s Team which it hadn’t become yet.

A simple detail is all. I suppose they were narrating about America’s Team history even though at the time that label hadn’t surfaced which the old video clips obviously didn’t mention.

Right, he wasn't saying they were called America's Team back then.

I was 15.

The Cowboys started out 4-3 as Landry rotated Staubach and Morton.

They lost to a Saints team that were bottom dwellers all decade. However that game featured a starting QB for the Saints, a rookie 1st round pick by the name of Archie Manning.

They lost to a poor Bears team whose best weapon was a QB that completed less than 50% his entire career but almost had a thousand yard rushing season.

The worst loss was the first Cowboy-Commander game in George Allen's career. I couldn't stand the taunting afterwords.

The Cowboys were 4-3 and the Commanders were 6-1 during a 14 game season.

And then Staubach became permanent starter. They didn't lose another game that season.

It wasn't just Roger, he was the catalyst, and a wierd one at that.

What I mean is that it seemed like absolutely everything began to go right.

The defense locked in. Only 1 team in the last 10, including playoffs, scored more than 14 points.

All the RB's got healthy, Calvin Hill, Duane Thomas and Walt Garrison. The truth is, thus was a true running team. The Cowboys had the #1 offense in the league.

They scored 125 combined points in the last three regular season games.

However, these were the Dallas Cowboys, the same who broke my heart the previous season and their first playoff game was against the #1 defense, the Purple People Eaters of the Minnesota Vikings led by two future Hall of Famers on the defensive line.

I prepared for the playoffs as if nothing else in life mattered. I was 15.
