Wait, isn't Lawrence currently on a franchise tag? Are you suggesting tagging him again and then trading him?

Lawrence is one of the top DEs in the league. Don't take my word for it, look at how DCs around the league play him. Constant double and triple teams. Lawrence is a great player and is worth top $$ for a DE. If the Cowboys do not sign him someone else will and give him the money he wants. The Jets and Colts have huge cap space and both of those teams will make a run at Lawrence if the Cowboys don't sign him. He is worth what the market will pay.

The problem with Lawrence in Dallas is that there is no one else on the DL who takes pressure off Lawrence.
This is basically what was happening to D. Ware for much of his time in Dallas.

It would be nice to get him signed to a base like 13-15 million with performance incentives to get him more. That way he has an incentive to push hard all season long.

Tank is good but I'm not sure he is $20 M per year good. I would flip him for a first and change (4th) if I could get it, save the cap space and continue to draft well.

It might be prudent to trade back slightly with that 1st and get more bodies. Just a thought.
Thats the thinking loser teams make. Find a guy thats really good, then go cheap and let him walk to a team that wants to win. He is their best defensive player by far. The Rams double teamed him most of the game. Players who teams gameplan against, you keep.

Up here by Buffalo, the Bills suck because they dont pay players. Marshawn Lynch, Jason Peters, Jarius Byrd, Stephon Gilmore, the list goes on of all the good players the let walk.

Just the bad parts. You can't pay DLAW 20 million per after the way he played not only last night but pretty much the last half of the season. Including the 2 playoff games, DLAW had 2.5 sacks the last 8 games and none in the playoffs.

Tyrone Crawford needs to go. He's not a DT.
Really
It was one game, the kid will get his, he'll get paid because they know what's the smart thing to do.

He got zero pressure last night. None.

You don't pay top dollar for a guy who can get no pressure at all when you need it most.
How do you get pressure when the opposition runs almost 70% of the time? You wanna blame someone? Blame the coaching staff, Connor Williams,Sean Lee and Jeff Heath. They were all horrible and played roles in this loss.

Man you guys beat Heath like a rented mule. Buybuybuy a I agree on the other two guys. Lee has become complete trash overnight.

Because he's not Aaron Donald, you'll flip him for a 4th round pick - what, so we can draft the next Charles Tapper? You realize he's been one of the best DL in the league for the past few years? I agree, you have to be mindful of where you spend you're money, especially with lots of young guys up for new contracts, but don't act like D-Laws grow on trees. People really think you can just build a team out of 4th round picks. The only reason we're not the Cardinals is because of guys like Zeke, Cooper, Martin, Frederick, both Smiths, LVE, Lee, Jones, Awuzie, Lawrence, Gregory - all 1st and 2nd rounders. People complain that we try to fill needs with bargain bin free agents or mid-round draft picks, but then they say we should trade D-Law for a 4th round unless he takes Jeremy Mincey money.

Seems like he ran out of gas in the second half of the season in both of the last 2 years. Fatigue issue? Or are our defense coaches unable to create schemes to give him success once OCs start scheming to block him?

Still probably gotta sign him considering how difficult it is to find pass rushers

Sign him and make the investment worth while and bring in some decent DT’s that way teams can’t successfully gameplan around him. I’m not using the Rams game as an excuse to down DLaw and Byron Jones everyone knew we would lose at some point before the superbowl and I am glad it ended the way it did cause Linehan needs to go along with Moore.

We need talent more than Cap Space.....sign him and don't look back

for a 1st and 4th ?

i would do it in a heartbeat. but i think you will be lucky to even get a 2nd rounder for him.

And remember: this guys is not even under contract. FT him and then trade him ? with a ~22 mil cap hit and with no contract after that ? who will do something stupid ? I mean, ok, we would (Cooper) but then...

Seriously: If you would have called me about that trade i told you: OK, so you dont want that player anymore and you want me to help you get off this big FT money ? I will do it but i need something more,. So i can draft at least a cheap starter who will compensate for Tanks contract. Lets say you give me Tank and a 2nd rounder. Then we will talk.

Franchise Tag him at worst.. He gets hurt alot and plays hurt for a big pay day. IMO after he gets his $$$$ he will sit that bench alot like he disappears after 3/4 of every season!

Yeah let's go back to the days of Jeremy Mincey and George Selvie as our starting DEs. Lol y'all are nuts if you want to move on from Dlaw. He got doubled and chipped all game. Yeah teams game plan for him so we need more talent on the d line, not get rid of our only stud on it. And just because we draft a DE in the first (See Taco) it doesn't mean he will become close to what Lawrence is.
